My mom is moving into Jackson Oaks Senior Living. They're really nice people. It's a real pretty place, it's older, but it's well kept. She's going into memory care, and she's already been assigned a room. The staff members were very, very nice. While sitting to meet with the management people, they came over, introduced themselves, and brought me tea to drink while I was waiting. They went out of their way, and I think my mother will be happy there. I met her roommate, and she was a sweet lady. I think everything will work out just great, and I'm thankful for that. It's very neat, very clean, and it was just a great experience overall.

My sister moved into Jackson Oaks Senior Living. I'm not happy with them right now. We went into her room one time, and now we're not allowed to go back up to her room. We were told that we could put the furniture in her room and arrange it. We explained everything to the lady. She was very friendly and very helpful, but a lot of things were miscommunicated, and we were not allowed to go up to her room. Then they started calling me for furniture other than what she already had, like the TV, recliner, and bookcases. She doesn't need all that stuff in her room; she will fall into it. She fell over her dresser here and busted her elbow open. And we don't want her to feel comfortable in her room; we want her moving, but at this point, they still have her in a wheelchair. She's in the memory care unit, and they're thinking about taking her out of it. I'm not happy with that because all of her doctors -- the psychiatrist, the neurologist, the therapist, and our family doctor -- think she needs memory care and the facility thinks she doesn't. They said they'll review that in thirty days, and I told them that when you review that you haven't seen the worst of her yet, because it takes awhile to get the worst out of her. She has doubts that her husband is coming back, and she's going to try to escape; she did that here at home on multiple occasions. Her doctors want her in therapy, and the facility has a therapy room. I would like to see her utilize that and have somebody help her with that because if she doesn't get up and move every hour -- I had to have her moving every ten minutes -- her legs are going to atrophy due to the brain injury the medication she's on for hallucinations. When we went through on the tour, we had a discussion about being able to eat lunch with her, and they were like, "Oh, sure, any time." I called up there just yesterday and said I'm going to eat lunch with her, and they said, "That was only in the beginning. You can't do that now because of COVID." I'm OK with that, but when you show me something, it's not a timeshare. This is the place my sister's going to be. We didn't know we weren't allowed to go in her room. Now several of her items are missing from her clothing that I literally purchased when she went in there, and nobody's located any of it. Her clothes are gone, her underwear is gone, and I bought all that stuff brand new. There is a severe lack of communication between people up there. In the beginning we were told several different things, and now we're being told that's not the case. They never told us we only get a thirty-minute visit, for example. I liked her room when it was first shown to us, but it's a nice, large room that she doesn't need. They have TVs in the sitting area, and my sister told me the Bible study they were doing was a joke.
