This was a letter I sent to the executive director. NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY! RUN, RUN, RUN from this place.... THEY JUST DON'T CARE!
Dear Steven,
When I called your facility on July 26th to talk to my mom, I could hear my Dad screaming in the background. Immediately, I could tell he was in pain or something was very wrong. I asked the nurse/Tech to call an ambulance and call me back. Five minutes later, I called back and Courtney told me they would not be calling anyone since they took his vitals that morning and they were fine. At this point, I advised them I was coming to get him to take him to the ER myself. Dad was so weak my husband and I could not get him in the car and had to call an ambulance from the parking lot. Courtney came out while I was on the phone with 911 and kept asking me to understand that since my Dad could not explain to them what was wrong and his vitals were okay earlier that morning, she could not call an ambulance. By this point, I finally told her I did not understand why she wouldn't call an ambulance if a resident was incoherent and there was obviously something wrong. My husband told her to go back inside since we were having to do what should have been done 30 minutes before.
By the time the ambulance arrived, they could not get a blood pressure on my Dad. My Dad would have died if I had left his care up to Courtney. As a former nurse, I am shocked at the lack of care and compassion shown to my Dad that day. After getting him to Northside, my sister picked my mom up. Obviously, if this is the care my Dad has received, we will not leave my mom.
I came to pick up my parent's things which were dumped into boxes and put in the garage. There were broken items, dirty clothes dumped onto clean ones. I have unboxed them all and cannot find my mom's shoes. Still, shoes can be replaced. My parents cannot. Picking up their medications, I discovered my mom had been off of the patch of her dementia medication for 7 days which you should never quit cold turkey! I was told the pharmacy did not deliver it. hmmm...We were able to get it filled within 3 hours. I wasn't called and told they were having a hard time getting it. Instead, the techs just charted that she wasn't given it.
I understand you are proud of your shine memory care system but the care your techs gave him was unacceptable, Especially Courtney. How do you justify coming out and arguing with the family while they are on a 911 call?
