My mother has moved into Oaks at Suwanee Creek. I feel like they're very on top of things. The nurse is amazing with the residents. She does a great job. The one I did all the paperwork with was great. I got all the answers that I needed. I feel that they are very family oriented. I love its physical appearance. I think it's great. They have games for them and movie day, especially for the residents that have dementia, which is on Wednesdays. They have a beauty salon there. I like the fact that they have everything set up outside, so it makes it feel like they're at home and they're not like in clinical surroundings. The only recent issue was they were short of staff on cooks, but I think they found somebody quick. Other than that, everything else is fine with the staff. I have no issues. The staff was very friendly, very helpful, and very attentive. My mom hasn't given me any issues at all with staff. I go every day and I haven't had any issues with staff, too. From what I've seen, the food was good.

Excellent staff, beautiful facility. We've looked at them all! Both my parents have lived here (in Memory Care) for almost 8 months. The staff always responds quickly and cares about the dignity of each resident. Residents are treated the way you want to be treated. They have fish, birds, activities, field trips, and the food is GOOD! They have outdoor courtyards with covered patios that are accessible for fresh air any time of day. Oaks at Suwanee creek is a blessing and we are so thankful we found them.

Oaks at Suwanee Creek was very pretty inside and they have courtyards that dad can go out to if he wants to sit outside. They have pretty much everything he needs for his physical therapy and occupational therapy. Also, they are going to check on him every 30 minutes, whereas some of these others wouldn't check on him until every two hours. It's a very open place and it seems like dad would enjoy it and want to be there. The staff is very friendly too. I feel like they care about their residents, plus they sit and interact with them and talk to them. The atmosphere was just great. The studio was a big open area where he could put his bed in, a dresser, and a recliner that he likes. The bathroom was open and it's got a separate toilet area where he'll be able to get his wheelchair in. He'll be able to get up and down because they're going to put the grab bars where we want them for him. They have a walk-in shower that has no step up, so he can roll his wheelchair up to the sink, and the closet space was very good. We could put a dresser in it if needed. It's very, very nice. They're still in the process of getting everything together because they just opened in April, so they're still working on areas and still getting furniture in, but to me, the place was very clean. They've put benches in the hallway so if they get tired when walking, they can sit on them. It's all one level and it was like a circle, but the memory care was kind of closed off and you've got to have a code to get in. They can't get out on their own. I'm also glad that they're making the effort to make sure that they don't feel trapped in the area because it's big enough that they can go out to the courtyard and it's very open for them, so they don't feel like they're much stuck in a nursing home with all the hallways and stuff. Their food smells and looks amazing too.

Actually, I am not a relative of a current resident as my father who was a resident recently passed away. After falling and sustaining a severe injury, the nursing director “forgot” to report the fall. You would think when I spoke with her at length trying to determine the sudden decrease in mobility that it might have jogged her memory, but I guess not. She must have also misremembered the sequence of events when upon finally remembering the fall, she falsified government reports stating family and his physician were notified. As to the other criteria, the food was good, and the building was new clean and comfortable. Perhaps those aren’t the most important criteria. Hey If you choose the Oaks, I hope you have a better experience.

I cannot in good conscience recommend Oaks at Suwanee Creek. Instead, I feel a responsibility to strongly discourage anyone from using this facility, particularly if you are looking for a memory care center. My sweet grandfather suffered unnecessarily for over 48 hours on a broken hip that was not addressed by staff (particularly the nurse in charge of memory care). On Friday, June 25th, 2021, my grandfather fell not once but TWICE while in the memory care facility in Oaks at Suwanee Creek. The first fall was discovered by my mother when she found him on the floor of his room (we have no idea how long he was there before my mom found him). That evening, he suffered another fall that resulted in a broken hip. Staff ignored his obvious signs of pain and failed to communicate his fall or signs of distress to family. It was not until a CNA with an outside organization came to check on my grandfather on MONDAY that our family was alerted to his change in condition. In some of his final days, my grandfather suffered unnecessary, excruciating pain for over 48 hours because of the negligence of the nursing staff. In addition to the negligence of the nurse in charge, attempts by family to call that weekend and ask about his condition were dismissed/ignored. As a nurse myself, I have been appalled by the (continued) lack of accountability and total lack of proper documentation from the Oaks, and again particularly the nurse in charge of memory care. I would not recommend this facility to anyone, particularly while they continue to employ this negligent nurse despite multiple attempts made by our family to express our concerns for the other residents of memory care. My grandfather was one of the kindest men I’ve known and cared deeply about his family and friends. I post this in hopes that the families of some of his friends in memory care will see this and take steps to ensure their loved ones are not being neglected as well. My grandfather would not want anyone else to suffer at the hands of the Oaks the way that he did.

My Dad was a resident at The Oaks at Suwanee Creek for a few weeks. I cannot recommend this facility to anyone because of the neglect that my father experienced while there. My dad had a serious fall which the nurse in charge of memory care and staff failed to properly care for or report to our family. The result was that Dad sat at The Oaks at Suwanee Creek with a broken hip and in tremendous pain for over 48 hours. During those 48 plus hours, my brother and I tried to get answers about Dad's change in condition. No one at The Oaks told us of the fall or gave us any other information of use. It was not until I made the decision to get my dad to the hospital that I finally got answers. After arriving in the ER, we were quickly told that dad had a serious hip fracture. Upon the advice of multiple doctors, I asked The Oaks director if something happened that we were not told about. After several hours, the director got back to me to say, "your dad did have a fall and the nurse says she "forgot" to call you". My dad suffered needlessly for over 2 days because someone "forgot" to properly communicate with our family. This failure in communication as well as the lack of attention to my dad's obvious signs of pain were both inexcusable and negligent. We have asked the administration to hold responsible parties accountable however that has not happened. Moving your loved one to a memory care facility is a huge and difficult decision. Please consider another location!
