My parents really like St. Augustine Plantation. It is very open and airy. The staff is extremely friendly and extremely helpful. They have good food and lots of activities. It is more of a country setting because it's set back from the road a bit. You can see the woods kind of behind it, which is quite nice because a lot of the other places were close to main roads.
My parents are in memory care. It is very safe. Everything is secure, and the windows don't open in the rooms. They have puzzles and scavenger hunts. They leave the property and go out to a restaurant for dinner. They have a van, and they take them in groups.

St. Augustine Plantation is the one we chose. It was a very nice size. It wasn't too big, and I felt like my mom wouldn't be overwhelmed. I liked the layout of the place. It seemed like it would be easy for her to get around. My mom wasn't there long enough for us to give a good opinion on the care. But everybody was very nice. I couldn't say whether it was outstanding or whatever because we weren't there long enough, but we didn't have any problems.
My mom was there for memory care. She has Alzheimer's. She had a bedroom and a bathroom; it was her own separate room. It was a private room. We liked its layout. The bathroom was set up well for somebody who is disabled. It had a window. One good thing was, we wanted to have bars on the wall for her to be able to hold on to, to walk to the bathroom, and their maintenance people put them up there for us. That was very nice and accommodating. It was very nice, and it was kept well. It was very clean. We didn't have any issues with that. It was a beautiful area. It was quiet, and they have a lot of flowers and trees. It looked nice.
They had amenities. The one thing that we thought was important was that music was part of their day. They had a piano, so they had music therapy every day. They also had a morning devotional every day for spiritual people. They didn't have a pool, but they had a nice porch area where you could sit in the rocking chairs. They had classes every day. They had a lady come and do a fitness thing. It was good value. It was a modest price, not expensive.
