I liked The Collier at Naples. I liked the rooms. The rooms were great. My daughter would have had an upgrade into a small suite that was nice. They were friendly. The unit is on the fourth floor though, so if our daughter wanted to go somewhere, she'd have to get on the elevator and go down. She would be on the fourth floor all the time. She wouldn't have a lot of opportunities to go places unless someone took her. Knowing how minimized staffing is, we knew that she wouldn't be going anywhere.
We visited a library, they had arts and crafts that were going on while we were there, and they had a nice movie television kind of room with real comfy theater chairs. It was very nice. It's a high rise, so it's different than most of what I've seen and experienced. Their memory care is on the fourth floor, and I found that a little difficult to understand or whether that would work for her. You have to accept high-rise living and that's what it is. Every time you want to leave that floor, you have to get on and off an elevator with assistance. She would not be getting on the elevator and going somewhere herself.
It was extremely clean. The outdoor itself was fine except they allow cigarette smoking there and I did not like that. There's not enough help in these places. If you want to go outside, you could wait all day for someone to take you out, and then when you get out, you could wait all day to get back in. You're dealing with a high-rise and I'm not sure that high-rise is the best thing in a nursing home. The fourth floor had wonderful suites. We could have had a suite for what we paid for a small bedroom, but it had a balcony on it. The balcony had been locked off, and I didn't like that at all.

The Collier at Naples was the one I liked the most at this time. I liked the location, the rooms, the atmosphere, and the staff. I think their staff is extremely qualified. The memory care is on a secure floor. The ratio from patient to staff is very good, and also it has a military kind of connection, and my husband is military. There were three choices of the rooms that you could take from. For memory care, it's more or less, giving them activities that stimulate their memories. So they have that throughout the day, not just with therapy, but with socialization. I thought they had a very good program going on. They have nurses on site. I'm going back there today. The facility is very nice.

I have been working with he staff at the Collier at Naples for over a month and I can not say enough about them! Scott and Richard are absolutely amazing! My mother has been there for a few weeks now and I can honestly say that I am sleeping better at night knowing that she is in great hands. I highly recommend this facility and the staff again, Scott and Richard, have gone above and beyond to make my mother comfortable and safe!

My husband has moved in. His memory is OK, but he can't be in and out of bed by himself. He needs two people. The place looks good. They are taking good care of him. I can't complain about anything. The people are very nice. Everything is clean. My husband is not really a joiner as far as activities go, and the people around him are really out of it. He can't really carry on a conversation with anybody there, so he just likes to go back to his room and watch TV.

I like it very much. I was very impressed by the scheduled activities for the residents. The residents were sitting around in a circle singing Christmas carols; it was very sweet. They have a whole list of different all-day-long activities for the residents. They have a lot more to do for the people than they do at the other places. The rooms are nice. I like the staff members very much. They have a bar, lots of activity rooms, and craft rooms. They are very well done. I am impressed with the whole place.
