This facility is understafffed in the memeory care unit. My husband's mother was not attended to in an appropriate manner. Upon numerous visits we found her bed soaked with urine or squares of soak pads covering an accident she had on the bed and the sheets hadn't been changed.Her personal care was lacking- hair disshelved, mismatched outfits and urine soaked clothes in the laundty basket. After a meeting with staff we continued to find her clothes rolled up, not hung, and thrown on the top shelf of her closet. The numerous hangars for her clothes were found lying on the floors of both her closets so there was no excuse for not hanging them and keeping her closet neat and her clothers accessible. Her iphone cell was missing and it was noted an android had been exchanged for it. Her bridge was lost and none of the caregivers even mentioned it to the family. The family noted it was missing upon a visit to her. Visits were limited to a 48 hour advance notice. This started in September and it was difficult to schedule visits following these restrictions. Visits were not allowed on Sundays the family was informed via email due to cleaning in the facility.

My wife moved in to Beach House on January the 19th. The people there seem to care about my wife, and she wasn't just there to be put in a room. They know her name, they know my name, they send me text messages about her and pictures of her, and they call me and tell me what she needs or how she's feeling, whether she's happy or sad or involved. The residents don't just sit and look at one another, they have been actively giving them something most of the day, and I think that's a good thing. They have been drawing pictures, playing games, exercising, and walking around inside and out in the little courtyard. All of the things that I would want to have her to do, they have her do it. I have not seen their menu, but I have been told that she's not having any trouble eating her breakfast. They told me she eats all the food they're giving her, so it must be good. If she didn't like it, she wouldn't eat it. The facility is newer, more modern, seems to be well taken care of, and everything in there seems to work. The room that she's in is 360 some square feet, which is bigger than some I've seen. All of her belongings are in there and she's able to walk around, so I can't be any much happier than that. They have the maintenance people whom I have met who are taking care of the facility. They could actually hang a picture in the room for you if you asked them. They don't act like they are being put upon, they just snatch it up and hang it up on the wall for you. The activities seemed to be fine. She is active, she moves around and plays, and she gets into groups. They talk as much as they can to one another. It's not like she just sits on her chair and watches the sun go from one side to another. She's actually doing things. Their activities are excellent for someone who has Alzheimer's. It's a bit of a value than the one that I was in before where I got nothing. I am very happy with all the stuff that they're doing for my wife, all the information that they're giving me about my wife, and with the price.

Beach House was very nice, and the physical plan was very nice, but there weren't a lot of men there, so I was concerned about that. The staff was very good, she was very helpful, and answered all my questions. The dining area was very nice. They were doing arts and crafts when I was there.
