I didn't like anything about Heron House. It was filthy. They should improve their cleanliness. The whole place reeks of urine. There was trash on the floor. There were bugs and ants on the tables. It was a mess. I wouldn't leave a stray dog there. It was awful. They had a courtyard, but it was mostly like a garbage pit. There were plastic cups everywhere, chairs overturned, no flowers, and bushes untrimmed. The room that we looked at was actually pretty nice. It was pretty close to downtown Sarasota.

My in-laws are in Heron House. I like that it's small and the staff is wonderful. It's very clean. They're constantly cleaning and disinfecting. It's an older building, but it's all kept well. I have not tasted the food myself, but it smells good. They're in memory care, so there's not that much. In the other section, I'm sure they have a lot more. They have trips and different things, but in the section, my in-laws are in, it's very limited because it's memory care. They have a beauty salon, barber, podiatrist, and all that. I'm very happy with them. I'm very pleased.

My mom has moved into Heron House. It's wonderful. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The physical appearance is great. It's beautiful. It's very clean. My mom enjoys the food; she likes it. She even says it's very good. She's fine. She is in memory care and she participates when she wants to. We chose this one because they have a move-in special.

I really didn't care for Heron House, although it was more affordable than the others. My dad has memory issues, but he's fully functioning and can do everything on his own. I felt he would not be happy there because a lot of the people were on the opposite side of the spectrum from him. It didn't look as clean to me, and the outside facilities were very limited. The people there seemed like they needed a lot more care physically than my father does. I only met with one person, but she was very nice. The rooms were large, but they didn't look clean to me. Maybe they didn't have time to clean the room, but the beds looked a little nasty. I would definitely not put my father there.

The woman who manages the memory care unit at Heron House was just wonderful. I felt very comfortable with her and it was like we spoke the same language. It was a lovely, warm, and welcoming facility. The apartments were fine. While we were there, they were doing an exercise class, bingo, scavenger hunt, and holiday activities. They take them out to the doctor or shopping. There was a gentleman there who did stonework for crafts. I used the facilities there, which was in good order and clean.
