My mother is in Truewood by Merrill, Bradenton. It's small and it's caring and my mother gets great care there. The rooms are average size and they're kept very clean. When I go and have dinner and lunch with my mom, I always take a bite and it's good. She likes it. She's been eating more than she was eating before. She's in memory care. They have songs, they build puzzles, and they have a bus that takes them out for ice cream once a week.

We loved it but they don't offer Medicaid. I like their assisted living side but their memory care side isn't as nice as the memory care at the community we ended up choosing. But we really liked the place, it was very nice and the staff was also really nice. We actually took our dad with us, and even though he didn't know what it was for he said that it's nice. The staff who assisted us was really good. She handled it well with my dad walking through with us, and she has also called us back. She did a great job.

It was very nice. The receptionist was very nice and the greeting was great. I was primarily interested in memory care so we then went through a secure door which I thought was very good, the way it was key-coded in to the door. I was quite impressed with the memory care. There was no smell and they had a really nice community dining area which I was impressed with. The residents all seemed to be comfortable. I was just a little taken back by the two caregivers who were permanently assigned to the memory care division because I thought they were a bit abrupt. Nothing bad beyond that, but they were just not open like I would've expected. Other than that one caveat, I thought it was really good. I would have been really happy to have my mother there. The rooms were very nice and of a good size. They have a situation where they can do respite care, so they were showing me the respite care room which was impressive.

I stopped in to tour this community a few days ago. Many things were going on. I understand that they are remodling all areas of the community. Currently seeking memory care. I noticed that they have therapeutic programs to include music and reminiscencing which I think my mother would love. I spoke to one of the family members who told me they could have not picked a better place. But advised me that the first month would be difficult and hard. She proceeded to help me understand what I could expect. I think I will be moving mom in but just so scared to pull the trigger. Will keep you posted.
