My mom lived at The Opal for almost 2 years.During April-Nov of 2022 she got Scabies 3 times while living in cottage 2. It is my opinion that the cottages are filthy, and the care is really poor. I had to routinely clean my mom’s room myself. My mom lived in the renovated cottage but even that had peeling floors that they would duct tape down. During the 2 years there was a constant turnover of staff. There were 5 Executive Directors, 5 Directors of Wellness, 4 Marketing Directors and a multitude of caregivers. There were many months at a time when there was no Director of Wellness(nurse) on staff at all. The activities were good, except there is only one Activities Director and she is split between 4 cottages, so most of the time your loved one does nothing. A really troubling thing for me is that I observed almost no supervision of caregivers inside the cottage, and a lot of them seem more interested in their cell phones than the residents. The food is fine, my mom liked it. Overall you can do a lot better for the money!! I wish I would have moved my mom sooner, and I hope I can save someone else from making the same mistake that I did.

First, there is a new director every few months. This latest one is rude and argumentative. She does not take responsibility for anything. My mother's room has holes in the walls, a toilet that doesn't flush, ants in the room. We have to fight for months to get any repairs completed. Don't let the pretty pictures fool you, only oe cottage has been renovated. The others are outdated. We chose this place in part because of the nice gardens. Now, the grass/bushes are dead because they wont pay to fi the broken sprinkler system. On my last visit, I had to bathe my own mother because she smelled terrible and had not been bathed in 2-3 days. This wasn't the first time I've had to do this. I never see any human empathy from the aids. All of these poor people just sit on the sofa like zombies and watch T.V. all day. A new guy just arrived, and he screams "help" at the top of his lungs everytime I visit. All he wants is to talk to his wife, but they won't let him. Then there are the chocolate morsels I found on a table one day. Turns out a patient had taken those out of her colostomy bag and set the "nuggets" on the table. No one noticed for who knows how long. If we didn't visit, things would be horrible for my poor mom. They sold us all these great promises, but none of it was true. Stay away unless you can visit every day and check up on them!!!

Do NOT even consider placing your loved one here! For the 37 months that my mom was at The Opal, there was a revolving door of executive directors, directors of nursing, caregivers, and receptionists which resulted in inconsistent quality of services. Management was not available after 5pm. There was a lack of guidance, value, and supervision for the caregivers, most of whom spoke minimal English. Corporate put NO effort into maintaining the facility: leaking toilets and sinks, ghost ants, dirty walls; upgrade promises were never carried through. The landscape is shabby, the sprinkler system doesn't work, and the facility is deteriorating. No one seems to care; 2 of the 5 cottages are closed. Sadly, there is an absence of respect for the families. After my mom died, NO ONE in management bothered to acknowledge this. How much effort does it take to send a card or make a phone call? Clearly, The Opal management lacks the compassion, skills, and desire necessary to effectively run a safe and attractive memory care facility.

My dad has been at The Opal at North Naples for a few weeks now, and he's happy there. I'm pretty happy with the place too. He has a nice apartment, and the residents are generally happy. Some days are different from the others, but the last time I was there, I heard people laughing. It was like a big party and dad loves it. He's very happy to have company, and he's getting everything he needs. The staff members are all very nice and cheerful, and they seem to enjoy their jobs. There's also longevity within the staff. Some of them have been there for a long time. He likes the food so far. They said he eats all of it and finishes his plate. The building was recently remodeled, like a year ago, so it looks good. He just has a closet door that could be in a little better shape, but that's not a big deal. It's all been remodeled, so it's nice, clean, and neat, and the bathroom looks good and modern. They do have activities every day. Some days it's bingo, then it's something else other days. Dad is very interested in that. It's perfect for the memory care residents. The decor is kind of weird, though; like in the hallway off to one side, there's a crib with a few baby dolls in it and they look realistic. It seems kind of weird to normal people but I get it. You have babies and that's something that everybody could relate to, and then over in the other hallway, they have a little tool area set out. So it's like a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but it's interesting and seems conducive to keeping them amused.

I would not let my dog come here to stay. It’s dirty, old. Not enough aids, food, not fit for a dog to eat. I will say, the activities on the most part are ok. They have people come in and help them paint, ceramics, music talent. A lot of the residents look like they have not been showered in days. It smells horrible at times in the hallways and LR. The LR furniture smells, the card tables, and tape holding them together. This is just a small list, I could go on and on. Rethink, before u decide on Opal.

I enjoyed the tour at Juniper Village at Naples; it was a good concept. I didn't like the idea that they move the residents from one section to another as they decline. I think to age in place is the better way to go, but the community and the general concept is very good. The person who showed me around was very knowledgeable and they have a good system; they have a good program. They have five buildings and as people decline they move them from one building to another. The buildings were well-kept, had nice layouts, a wonderful atmosphere, and nice open spaces.

My wife is in Juniper Village at Naples. The management, the people that take care of her, and the helpers are excellent. They have a nurse on-staff 24/7 and a doctor comes five days a week. The meals are good and the service is good. They go out of their way to help people. The place is spotless, clean, and there's no smell. Everything is perfect. They have five buildings and they go by categories. The most that they have in each building is 14 residents. The main kitchen provides the food for them everyday. They have one building that's for women only. You can have food anytime you want and you can make a reservation for a private room if you want to have a get-together with your family and friends. The food is excellent. Each building has their own kitchen, dining room, and staff. They have trees and benches, and you can go out from building to building and it's secure. They give you a code and you can go there anytime. They have music, entertainment, and a television room. I would recommend them. They treat you like family. The rooms are very big. It's only one floor, and they have a bathroom and a shower in each room. They give them a shower twice a week if they need it. I saw one staff member giving a leg massage to my wife. They have a beauty parlor and a barber shop. It's like a private house. The price is much better than any other place.

Juniper Village at Naples is very nice. I like the staff very much. They have an interesting concept with the cottages. They are small, but they're all exactly the same. It is like a house with lots of bedrooms. There is a common area with a big TV, and there is a kitchen-dining room area. The location is interesting. It is off the highway, so it is tucked away. It is like haven, which is nice.

After visiting many memory care facilities and having my Mom in another placement prior, I can't express to you how wonderful Juniper Village in Naples is. Maria, the Director, Sharon, the Head Nurse, and their staff have been wonderful to work with. They actually care and listen to your concerns. They have given and continue to give great care and comfort to our entire family, not just my Mom who is a resident there.

Juniper Village is an amazing wonderful assisted living facility. Very much like living at home for my mom but with much more going on. I especially love the individual cottages with a limited number of residents in each, yet round the clock care. They provide activities, entertainment, as well as care. And the outside grounds are wonderful for the residents to walk, yet very safe. The staff is wonderful, helpful, friendly and caring. I would recommend Juniper to everyone!

My father has been cared for with gentleness, concern, and love for the past 3 years. The caregivers are attuned not only to each resident's needs but to family member also. Management holds quarterly meetings with family members to review medications and vitals and to discuss any changes and/or concerns that either the staff or family may have. They have speaker speakers, entertainers, luncheons, counselors, etc. to make this illness a little easier to bear.

I am very pleased with the quality of care my mother is receiving at Juniper Village. The administrators and staff are competent, compassionate people. As an RN in the home-health industry, I have seen many facilities and I would highly recommend this one with its small homelike setting. Good meals, activities, on-site salon, and a nurse on duty 24/7 are also a plus.

My mother was a resident of Juniper Village for almost 2 years up until her death in July. All I can say is that if anyone out there is looking for a safe place for your loved one you need not look any further. My mom was in another facility before Juniper and it was not what I was looking for. I know that she enjoyed the cottage she was in very much. I felt that the staff truly cared for her and she cared for them as well. I can only say if you want to sleep at night knowing your loved one is safe and loved, look into Juniper Village. I thank the entire staff of Juniper Village from the bottom of my heart for taking such wonderful care of my mom Frieda. I know she felt the same. When you sit down during the day with a cup of coffee you might think of her and smile. Thank you all. With sincere thanks Eileen Schroeder

Juniper Village was OK. It was a smaller community and campus without many amenities. There’s a very small gathering area for the residents. It didn’t leave any mark, and I wasn’t impressed with the dining area, either. It didn’t look modern and was old. The living spaces for the residents could be modernized a little bit. The space they shared for community activities was a too-small living room area.

Juniper Village offers memory care patients a unique experience. The small cottages each equipped with kitchen, dining and living area provide a home like atmosphere which is less intimidating than an institutional setting. The staff director, nursing and caregivers couldn't be more helpful. Our concerns are addressed in a timely and caring manner. I feel that my mother is in very good hands.
