I visited Oakmont of Simi Valley on behalf of a family member to learn more about the memory care services it provides for Alzheimer’s residents. I met with the director of the facility and a number of members of the memory care staff. Everyone was very helpful, forthright and informative. The marketing coordinator, Cristina, was especially patient and professional in answering all of my questions concerning the operation of the facility, and in providing multiple tours. The monthly charges appeared to me to be reasonable in comparison to other memory care facilities. I was also impressed with the physical layout of the facility, which included ample walking space, activity areas, pleasant dining areas and a large outside courtyard. The residents appeared to be well supervised and occupied with activities at the times that I visited. Ultimately, however, I decided that my relative’s present condition was not conducive to a move, but Oakmont of Simi Valley would definitely be number one on my list, if that move becomes feasible in the future.

We toured Oakmont of Simi Valley. I really liked that a lot, but that one's just a lot more expensive. So the price kind of scared us away a little bit. The staff was fantastic. We didn't go in there with a scheduled tour set. We just wanted to go look at it, and they were very inviting, and brought us right in. We toured with them right away. They were very thorough and made us feel comfortable. That probably would have been one of our top choices, but the only thing we didn't like about it was the cost. The cost was normal, but it seems like everything there is kind of nickel and dimed. So I kind of was wondering if one month it would be $8,000 and the next month it might be $9,000, the next month it might be $8,200. Everything was sort of piecemeal in there depending. Like if she needed medication, that was going to be an extra charge, if she needed her pants changed, it would be extra charge. The Oakmont has different levels of care, depending on what they need, and that's what changes your price tag, if you will. I think the level of care could change and the price would just keep going up. We're on a strict budget because we have two parents that need care, so we have to mind our funds for a significant time. It's beautiful, it's very friendly, it's very open, it's very bright. I definitely felt comfortable there. You feel like you're at home.
