I've toured Ivy Park at Salinas, it seems to be much more organized than the other place I saw. Lunch was over when I got there, and the memory care people who were in the common areas were having refreshments. They were having a movie time but they were all in one area, nobody was walking around and everybody was there. They had a lot of staff members that I could see and I think they're amazing. The only thing I have with them is that their rooms were so small, even their larger room was small. It's the care and the way the people were that made it so nice. I saw the menu and it looks pretty good. The facility was wonderful, it looked beautiful, and even I would live there someday. It was like a magazine aesthetic. I also saw the listed activities that they had for memory care.

My dad moved into Ivy Park at Salinas. It started a little rough. He had to be hospitalized for four days because his blood pressure dropped. But since we've been back, he's adjusting well. He's gotten great care, so we've been pretty happy so far. My dad's room is a little small, but it seems to be fine. He's got a nice big bathroom and shower. The room looks new with new carpet and everything. They've got a great living room and kitchen. It seems to meet all my dad's needs. They do regular clean-up and laundry. My dad connected with several different employees there. They connect with the people that they take care of, so you can tell that there's a lot of care there. The memory care unit is a little different because a lot of the residents are in wheelchairs or need assistance. So activity-wise, it's limited. But they do other things to stimulate, like they have live music come in and weekend exercises. I like that they have other areas where you can take family and meet separately. The dining room is very big. Whenever I go there, I can sit with my dad, and there's plenty of room. He seems to like the food, and when he doesn't like something, they will prepare something separate for him.
