Regency Palms Oxnard had a lot of different activities and involvement. I liked the caring attitude of the staff and that they specialize in memory care. It was a pretty good-sized facility where I didn't feel like my mom would be confined in one small area. They still have dignity when they go out and eat. They have a restaurant dining setting, which I really enjoyed, and an area where family and friends could come and visit. They also have a specialized room for gatherings of families for little events or dinner plans where they set out utilities and nice plates for the family. It was so welcoming, and I liked the menu. They had a big jar of water (with different flavor water for each day) out in the open where residents can go and serve themselves. So it's kind of like them still being self-sufficient if they're thirsty. They're more than welcome to grab a cup and keep themselves hydrated and I know a lot of the other facilities do not offer that. That was important for me. They have different programs where they stimulate the resident's minds and keep them active. Like making cookies to help them with their hands. If my mom likes puzzles, they have puzzles out there. The facility is only two years old, so it's up to technology, very open, and spacious, which I really liked. I felt warm and they really cared. Erica was taking a lot of notes of what my mom's interests were. She wanted to know what Mom's hobbies were and what kind of person she was. That way, they can keep in mind what she enjoys. Another thing was Mom loves music and they said a lot of times they have people come in and perform. They actually gave us a box of treats and water, and the treats were really good.

Regency Palms has exceeded all my expectations as far as level of care for patients with dementia. They excel in understanding the disease and how to treat it, both for the patient and the family. Every employee at this facility should be commended for their efforts in caring for our loved ones. From the Director on down my experience with staff has been impressive They are kind and they care.
