The Meridian at Anaheim Hills was quite nice. I really liked it, but I don't want that kind of drive. I don't like that kind of traffic, otherwise, the place itself was very nice. The staff was very pleasant, and she answered any questions. It's an easy place to find, but for me, I don't want that kind of commute. It is great for somebody who is living in that direction already. I like the older theme that it has/the way it is set up. It is a pretty place. They have a beautiful fountain outside, a lot of parking space, and the dining room is very nice. There seemed to be a lot of nice people there. The rooms were nice and spacious enough. We looked at one that was for sharing and then the other one was just by itself, which was a little bit dark. The staff was very pleasant.

The Meridian at Anaheim Hills has been a wonderful placement for my mother because it is across the street from my house. My mother is healthy, strong, athletic, and completely ambulatory, but she hallucinates, sees delusions, and hears voices. She is paranoid and panics, so I am there most of the time doing the showering and toileting because she puts up such a fight that it would be an assault on one of their caregivers. I looked into placements that were Lewy body specific, but they're very rare, and none are close to my house. It is not working out ideally because I'm still there 10 hours a day, but she is safe. I also think the doctor and the staff there is fantastic. I approve, appreciate, and have a good dialogue with her doctor about the medication that she is on. I agree with the method of operation on how they approach her. Anytime she has an appointment, I am there because she will not allow the doctor to put the heart rate monitor on her finger unless she sees him put it on mine first. That's how paranoid she is. They have been very compassionate in letting me be as hands-on as I want. However, they can't shower her, they can't change her, they can't force her to the bathroom, she has not gone to one activity, she doesn't leave her room, and she doesn't get out of her bed. Nevertheless, I spend hours a day there and I see acts of kindness when no one is looking. I see caregivers hugging and kissing some of the residents and telling them they love them. The place itself is kind of grandiose. There is a large very formal dining room with a chef and beautiful food, and they serve it to you on fine china. There is a salad bar and fruit bar. However, that is in the main building for assisted living and independent living. However, my mom being in memory care would have no idea how to walk down the hall and get there. Their rooms are shared and private rooms with patios. They also have fully furnished exquisitely decorated rooms with bistros set out on patios. It depends on the amount of money you want to pay.
