My sister is on the waiting list at Oakmont of San Rafael. I chose them because it is designed well, it is built beautifully, and it's like walking into a nice hotel. The memory care facility is nicely laid out. It didn't feel like an old nursing home. There are areas where people can congregate patients. The dining area was spacious. The attitude and the vibe of the staff were very positive. The price is good right there. It's all very expensive, but it's not as expensive as other places that hadn't been renovated and sort of had a different take on care. They had a chef for both sides of the organization. And your meals, your cleaning, and your cables are included. They put on tiers the care that they give, and that was reasonable. While I was there, they were serving the food and it looked great and it smelled good.

I liked Oakmont of San Rafael. I think that the living environment and the services they provided were good. The people seemed very caring and interested in each of the family members, especially the people that were potentially joining the community. I was looking at the assisted living with the transition into memory care and the memory care was a state of the art compared to some other places that I had visited. Overall, it's a warm environment and it didn't feel very institutional in any way. The person who gave the tour was very lovely and very nice. They had multiple dining areas and we even got to try the food and it was very good. It was flavorful, fresh, and had a variety of options.
The rooms were very well-appointed and of decent size. I think one selling point was the bathrooms were very nice, especially for people who are in a wheelchair. It's very, very spacious, plentiful, and well thought out. Everything's easy to reach. The staff worked very hard and were very communicative. I thought they were very good.
Their facilities are cool because they have a little gym, a salon, music that's played in the library area, a baby grand where musicians can come and play it, and a courtyard in the middle of the building that's lovely and pleasant. So, there are a lot of places and things for people to do, and their movie theater is so pretty.
