Living, loving and caring for a family member with Alzheimer’s, dementia or other forms of memory loss is a unique challenge. We need the support of those who not only understand what we are experiencing, but can be a strong support through the journey. At Cedarbrook, our support groups offer family and friends the opportunity to meet and talk in a private and mutually supportive atmosphere. Often solutions come from others who are on the same journey at a different point in time. This community of care provides emotional support and continuing education. To ease your schedule, hourly care is provided for your loved one during your support group visit to our community. Please contact us to find out about support groups meeting at Cedarbrook.

Living Well

Our Personal Touch Care Program is a holistic approach aimed at maintaining residents' well being and self-worth. It is a program that encompasses all aspects of our resident care.

While many think of "Activities" as pre-planned group events, such as exercise, crafts and music events where almost everyone participates, we think of "Activity" as everything the resident does throughout the day, whether planned or spontaneous. This includes our residents’ personal care, conversations with others and even time alone.

We spend a great deal of time assisting residents with personal care and the daily routines can become more meaningful when we are making sure we are using sensitivity and creativity to create the special Personal Care Moment.

I toured Cedarbrook Memory Care for my mother. It had a very nice, homey atmosphere. The staff member who gave me the tour was very informative. Everybody was very friendly to the residents there. I liked the way they put the rooms for the residents there. It looked like everything was clean. Everything was up-to-date and modern. I did see that they had a lot of old pictures like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and stuff that happened in Fresno. The staff showed me the kitchen, and told me that the master chef cooked pretty much everything that the residents wanted. The dining area was spacious and clean.

We went to my wife's cousin in Cedarbrook. You walk in there, and it's like you're living in a hotel. People were sitting in the hallways in wheelchairs and chairs, and their heads were down. They're by themselves. I never saw anybody go up to them like a nurse and say, "How are you doing? What can I do for you?" This is like six months ago when we were there. It's quite depressing, my wife said we'll never send anybody to this place." That's how bad it was and depressing. It's a pretty new building, and everything looks clean.

Cedarbrook Memory Care was very clean. The person who gave the tour was very nice. The rooms were clean and above average. They had a TV viewing room, a dining room, and a lawn area in the yard, but it was a little sparse. The facility was very well kept up and new. The people I interacted with were pleasant.

My parents were residents of the memory care level in Cedarbrook Memory Care. I like this community, and the level of care given by their nursing staff was good. Most of the workers were really nice, and the communication was also good. The rooms were big enough and nice, and the food was alright as well. They have a very nice patio area in the back where you can go and sit. They have two dining rooms, two TV rooms, and they have a beauty parlor. They do activities in-house, they have people come in and sing, they do crafts and movies, and they do cooking demonstrations. They try to do as much as they can.

Cedarbrook Memory Care is spectacular. My mom loves the food. Everybody's so helpful and kind. Even the person at the front desk when you enter has a relationship with my mom. They get her blood work and they take her to the doctors. What she can pay for, she gets. They handle everything. She doesn't like the activities, and she is on the low end of dementia/Alzheimer's. She does easy crosswords. Sometimes they'll go on a walk, or they'll go to a place across the street to have lunch. It just depends on the resident's ability to handle things. She's very active. She has friends who come to get her and they bring in bands and people to do music all the time. It's a great place. I've eaten there multiple times, and their food is really good. They have really good snacks, and it's just amazing. They're really well taken care of. She was eating nothing and now she eats all three meals. She's just really happy. She has put on weight and she is doing really well. They do an excellent job. It doesn't smell bad, and it's always clean and decorated really nice. They always have nice music playing. She has her cat with her, which is another reason we chose that place.

My mother was at Cedarbrook, and we are going to move her to another facility. It was nice, and the staff was very caring. I like the options in the rooms where you could do a private room or a double room that was a plus. The food that was given to the residents in the memory care probably could have been cut up. I guess the memory care dementia patients allow you to have knives, but they would serve an entire chicken breast. You would expect it to be cut up; that’s the only detriment and one of our concerns. The grounds were beautiful and very well kept, and they have a wonderful handy man who keeps everything up.

Our aunt has been in care at CedarBrook for one year this month. We nieces and nephews are her children and we have been very impressed with the beautiful, homey feel of CB. The staff here have been wonderful to our aunt, professional, caring, kind, and respectful. We appreciate the large and roomy bedrooms with double beds and bathrooms. We also like that the showers and/or bathtubs are in a different location so that our aunt is well supervised . She has had several falls and staff have been able to help her immediately. CB is a beautiful facility and we as a family have sought their input at times to help us with strategies in how we communicate with our loved one so that she has less anxiety.and so do we.. Staff at all levels are just so very helpful and we want you to know how much we appreciate your work and kindness to our aunt and us all.

Cedarbrook was OK. One thing I didn’t like was the way they handled prescriptions; everything went through this other town 20 miles away, and I didn’t like that. I would rather do that myself than let them know what’s needed and when. Cedarbrook was a new, pretty-well-arranged place, but it didn’t impress me very much. I liked the location and the fact that it was new. It was closer to my wife and me. However, when I walked in the room, it was one big, long, companion room with a bed at one end and a bed at the other end. It was clean, but the lady was sitting on the bed staring, and that put me off. I couldn’t look at that all day.

Cedarbrook was good; I had a great tour. I didn’t feel like it was a good fit for my parents because they are higher functioning than the majority of the residents that are there, but the staff was wonderful. They were very nice and very responsive. The rooms are great. I did not like the fact that there were no showers in most of the rooms and the residents would go to the end of the hallway for showering and bathing. They were doing an exercise class when I was there, and they were doing a very good job. They had a lot of residents there participating at their ability level.

My Father has been a resident at Cedarbrook Memory Care for almost a year. Cedarbrook has an open cozy "feel" with its' comfortable rooms & decorated hallways which lead the residents to activity areas, dining room, and in the center a peaceful patio with waterfall, plants, and music. It is comforting to know my Father has RNs and a complete staff specially trained in memory care 24 hrs around the clock. I'm impressed by the cleanliness of the facility as well as the residents and the dignified respectful care the staff offers it's residents and visitors. I'm able to visit or call at any hours and have always found the staff friendly & helpful if i have any questions or request. I can and have recommended Cedarbrook as a Memory Care Home for a loved one.

Cedarbrook Memory Care Community is brand new. We chose this because it is dedicated to memory care. Also I like this facility. They have larger rooms in comparison to some others that I saw. All their staff is certified. Their administrative staff for the most part is RN. They have an RN on-site 24/7. The other memory care units were very small, usually, in a larger facility. This one is a large facility that holds 60 plus people, but it is all memory care. I thinkthat it is a lot nicer than a small place somewhere else. They have everything for activities. They have support groups, activities, and trips. They have the works. I haven't tasted the food, but I have seen it. It was pretty good. Overall, I like the fact that it is big and spacious and there are a lot of places to walk, both inside and outside.
