We just recently moved my father-in-law into Cedar Creek Senior Living in Madera. We got some personal recommendations from people in our area that had loved ones there so that's why we went with that one. They also had an opening for him and it was just kind of very quick.
He's in the memory center. So many of our friends had loved ones there and they highly recommended it. They gave me two cards for two people that work there, and I was told that I could call them day or night, seven days a week if I had any concerns at all. They are visitor-friendly and they encourage us to visit. They have a room where we can have a meal with a loved one, that's kind of off to the side. They communicate well with us and, just overall, are very concerned about my father-in-law and my mother-in-law's well-being.
He's in a double room but he has no roommate, which was nice of them. He pays less but he has privacy right now until they get more people. They got him settled in and he has his own room and bathroom. The room is more than adequate. You can bring a TV in if you want to. Everybody does their best to make sure he's comfortable.
The facility is very clean, there are no smells, and it's well taken care of. It's beautiful. We walk through the lower levels of care when we go in and there are activities for everybody. As we walk back, there's a beautiful dining room where people can eat. You can go in and eat with your loved one there too. We could even take my father-in-law out of the memory care area and bring him there. As you go back, the memory care area has its own kitchen area for snacks and whatnot, and then the main food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is brought in. They have an area there where they keep food, so if somebody says they're hungry, they have something for them. He can walk around outside and he is quite safe. There's no way he could scale the wall.
They're very attentive. They had one gentleman trying to take a screen off and they took care of it. They watch them pretty closely back there in the memory care.
We were able to see their food when my husband and I were moving my father-in-law in. They've also served lunch to my mother-in-law and she said the food was good. I have not tried them but it looks good and appetizing. They have snacks every day. We told them that his favorite food is peanut butter and jelly so they immediately put that on his chart. He's not eating much, he's only eating 50% of what he should, and that's the same as it was at home so they immediately made sure that there was always peanut butter and jelly available for him.
I saw a list of activities and I saw people participating in the activities, maybe twice. There are also activities in memory care. I doubt that my father-in-law does any of them, but I have seen people participating in them.

Cedar Creek Senior Living was fantastic in appearance. Everything was elegant, from the paintings on the walls, to the furniture. Everything was beautiful. The staff who showed me around was very dressed and elegant looking. It was a really nice place. The care center sat where there were lots of trees, so you get that kind of feeling even when you're just looking out the windows and even if you're not out in it. It's very comfortable and it makes you feel special.
