My friend is in Carlton Senior Living Davis. She's in memory care. It's very nice. It's very attractive and very well decorated in a tasteful way. The staff was very courteous on arrival, and when I walked to her room, they were very courteous. They have a lovely dining room and common room downstairs. My friend lives on the third floor. The corridors are tastefully decorated and have grab bars on one or both sides along the walls for people like me who need help. Her apartment was a one-bedroom with a bath, a tiny kitchenette, and a small living room. It was very nice. When she moved in about two years ago, she wanted colorful walls, which they were very happy for her to have. Her son bought the paint and painted the walls in the colors that she chose. Then the lockdown came, so I didn't see her for almost a year, and by that time, she had moved into memory care, and that's where I saw her last week. I was very impressed with the accommodations there. Again, she had a nice room, somewhat larger than the one she had had in independent care. The common area, again, was large and airy, with big windows and light coming in, comfortable furniture, very pleasant, quiet music, and numerous staff interacting with the patients there, some of whom were in wheelchairs, and others who were at a game table wanting to play a game. There was a kitchen area in the common room where two people were having their breakfast at about eleven o'clock. Across the hall from that was a very nice and quiet common room, with easy chairs and books on the shelves. At one point I met my friend in the common room and she decided she wanted to go back to her room. So we went out into the hallway, where she started going the wrong way. A staff person was coming toward us and stopped to ask if she could help. My friends told her what she needed, and the staff said she'd be happy to take us to my friend's room. My friend also asked if this person would bring us some cokes, which she did after she got us into my friend's room. So it's a very pleasant visit and a very pleasant place. If I have to go to this kind of care, I would probably choose The Carlton.
