Brookdale Tanque Verde was our favorite. It was an excellent community. Everything from the staff to the room to the meal planning and to their activities, I couldn't say anything bad about them. The apartments were appropriate and nice sized. They had arts and crafts. The staff said they offer little field trips and nature hike.

The rooms at Brookdale Tanque Verde were neat, clean, and spacious. They were very nice and also had windows. The only thing I don't understand is I didn't see a single resident when I was there. I don't know where they all were, maybe they had an off-campus activity that day. The dining area was very nice, it was bright and airy, with nice kitchen and table setup. The staff members were very helpful, efficient, and professional-looking.

My parents spent approximately 12 mths at this facility. We decided to move both out after my mom developed a bed sore that was diagnosed as Grade 4 (down to the bone). This bed sore was only caught after family insisted we get a new medical provider as we didn't feel they were receiving adequate care. The new provider found bed sore on her first visit and was appalled at how bad the sore was.........bed sores start out at Grade 1, then 2, then 3 and Mom was at a Grade 4. We also found out Mom was being over-medicated while at this facility.......she was noted by family member and a staff member to not be able to hold her head up (originally thought to be due to pain). Ironically, after leaving this facility, she had no issues with keeping her head up. I even discussed this with her medical provider and this was her best guess how to explain this. Very sad! Please do not allow your loved ones to be a part of this mess.

At first, Brookdale was very nice and seemed very well organized. I went back unexpectedly, and it was disorganized and smelled. I went back the third time, and the bathroom that I saw that was not taken care of still wasn’t taken care of. One room was flooded with water, and the other one smells terrible. The staff was great, and wonderful. There was a library. The dining area was good, but it was not as homey and seemed institutional.

We had an appointment, and the woman that setup the appointment was nowhere around. We were waiting and looking. We noticed that the residents at the facility waited about 45 minutes before they were served lunch. They were invited into the cafeteria, and I was just appalled. As far as the woman that set-up the appointment with my sister, everyone kept telling us she would be back, and we waited about 45 minutes.
They must have someone in the office area to greet the people that are coming to look and even to greet the family members of the residents. We had to find someone that would speak to us.
