My mom moved to Thunderbird Senior Living. It seems to be very good, they organized a good amount of attention to helping the residents. They do a variety of different activities, they bring in singers, they do arts and crafts type of stuff and painting or some games. The meals are good. They're consistent. I mean, they're not out of this where it's like basically cafeteria food. They have a hairstylist and a nail technician, and the doctors come directly to the facility to help the residents. They coordinated on getting her a booster, which was good, so that part of it seems good.

My loved one is a resident of Thunderbird Senior Living. He started in assisted living, and they recognized right away that he needed to go to memory care, which was a good thing for him. The move-in coordinator, who's no longer there now, was great. She gave me a tour before we even moved in and she was so helpful. When it was time for us to have him come for paperwork, she and the nurse were just really good with him because. He's got macular degeneration and he's got dementia and they were able to lead him through the paperwork pretty easily and get him to be able to find most of that paperwork. I was impressed with that. They got him moved in during COVID, so, that was tough. It was like dropping a kid off and saying bye.
They were helpful to let me come and visit him. You can make an appointment and they would let us go into a room and talk for a couple of hours if we needed to. Now that he's in memory care, the supervisor there, her name is Jennifer is exceptional. She sends me pictures, she texts me, and she's always open to me calling her. She's so good with the residents there. She even let him bring his pets from assisted living into memory care, which I think is exceptional because a lot of places don't let people in memory care have pets. He's got two cats and that was important to him because when he left his house, he had 11 cats. And she made sure that an order was placed for an electronic litter box for him, so, he wouldn't have to worry about that. She also checked with me on that. She also goes in herself and changes it. She is the supervisor, so, that's pretty impressive. She's so good at making sure they're okay. He was having trouble with a resident wandering into his apartment. So, she let some of the residents get locks put on their doors. And that's unusual for memory care. Whenever I text her about things, she gets right back to me, and things get remedy right away. I'm pretty happy with that.
They just hired a new activity director to help her, too. And I think that's great because they'll have more activities. She was doing the activities herself, plus supervising all the memory care residents. That was a lot of work. But she would send me pictures of them doing activities.
He's got a nice apartment. He's got a 1-bedroom, and they clean it for him. They take his laundry, too. It's very clean and there's a lot of space. There are some studios in there, too.
The dining area is just for memory care, and they have several tables, and the caregivers serve the food. The food is okay most of the time there. The food wasn't always exactly what he expected, so that's been a little bit of a thing that they need to improve on.
They bring in entertainment and have people that will come in and sing for them. They'll have people that come in and do a little show for them, too. And then the activity director recently did memory games with them. Jennifer herself, the supervisor, would have discussion groups with them sometimes.
The staff is really good. Whenever I come over there, they know who I am and know my name. They're just very friendly and they're very good with the residents.
They have a lot of dining rooms because the place is huge. I don't know how the other dining rooms are but for the memory care dining room, the food is not good. There's some weird stuff that they've been serving them, too.
When I compared prices around the valley, he pays like $5000 a month, and he's memory care, so that's pretty good.
His father lived at Thunderbird many years ago, and that's the one he said if he had to go someplace, he'd want to go there. He had toured with his father back, but it's been a while back. That's the one he would want to go to so I didn't get to see any of the others.

I toured Thunderbird Senior Living. They had mixed memory care, assisted living, and independent living. That seemed kind of confusing to me because they had to keep the memory care locked separately in a separate wing. I wasn't real happy with that, plus it was like three stories high or something, and I preferred something on one level.
We toured the whole place, and we went to the memory care wing, as well. The maintenance looked OK, and the cleanliness was OK. It was kind of dark, but it's hard to describe it. It was just a feeling I have.
The staff were very nice.
