My mom has been at Regency Retirement Village - Huntsville for 4 years now. She started in memory care and now she needs more attention. But at this point, they don't have any more beds to accommodate her. So now, I'm getting a little concerned that they don't have the capacity to take care of her. Some of the staff do not have the skills to be doing what they're doing. However, they do have a very good nurse up there that does her best to take care of my mother, although she's not there all the time. And a lot of this has been happening after hours. When she goes to bed at night, sometimes my mother tends to get up. She's fallen several times, and they'd walk into her room and just find her laying on the floor. This is not acceptable to me. Her room is private. It's a nice room, I have no problem with the room but some of the CNAs do not have the experience to take care of my mom.
I have tried the food, and it's not bad. They do have a pretty good bit of activities to participate in from time to time. And they do try to involve the residents in all these activities. My mother just walks around the facility. She's not able to walk very well, especially since she fell and broke her hip. She's not capable of actively participating in the other activities at this point.
I understand that most of the facilities are short on staff anyway. And I understand they have to hire whoever they can to get in there just to cover the ratios that they need for CNAs and staff, but understand too that the amount of what we pay for her care does not match the care she is getting.

I had my mother in another facility and removed her to Regency for better care. I am not disappointed. This is a wonderful facility with great care, wonderful staff, good food and continued activities. The staff is knowledgeable with dementia patients and know how to handle their personalities. I am very grateful to have found Regency.

Regency Retirement of Huntsville is excellent. They made it very easy for my mom. So far, everything has gone smoothly, and she's doing just fine living there. They have a salon available ,and she's set up to use it soon. You can only go in if you're vaccinated, so I have to wait and see.
Her room is nice. It's small, which is probably good. She's got a window so she can look outside or have some sunshine in. They have activities available for them, and they have a tinted sun room. They have very nice grounds for them to look at and walk through if they can.
They also have a private courtyard for the memory care residents, but I haven't seen it at this point. I've been very impressed with the staff. They've been very helpful, very pleasant, and very humble. It's a nice and very clean place.

Currently, my father is staying at the Regency Retirement Village in Huntsville. He's settled in now, he's been there for a little bit. He's there for the long haul, I guess. There's a lot of little factors as to why we chose this facility for him, but I think their rating was one of the biggest factors. My father doesn't comment much because he can't; he's unable to, but from everyone there I heard that the food is great and the service is great. His room is something that he's getting used to, but it's kept clean. I would only recommend it if you're close by where you can visit. They do allow visitations during these COVID-19 times, but it's limited. In terms of location, it's not too far, it's easy to get to. It's just off of North Parkway, so it's a major thoroughfare, but it's also kind of quiet.

My father is in Regency Retirement Village - Huntsville. It's a great facility, and it has a very good layout. The nursing staff is very talented and very compassionate. I have no complaints about them. They helped to get him in and get him settled, and they're doing a wonderful job. The dining area is very nice, and the food is home-cooked and not institutional. It's very good food. They have arts and crafts, TV night, and people come in and sing. They have all kinds of things, and he's enjoying most of it.
