About This Community

Edgewood Summit, Inc., is a West Virginia non-profit corporation organized in 1990 for the sole purpose of developing, owning and operating the Edgewood Summit senior living community in Charleston, West Virginia. The Edgewood Summit community was constructed on a 37-acre tract of land adjacent to Cato Park, located within Charleston city limits. Phase I opened in the spring of 1995 offering 90 independent living apartments and 40 assisted living apartments. Phase II opened in January 2001 adding an additional 37 independent living apartments.

Phase III opened in the fall of 2013. Phase III offers two new levels of care, completing the Edgewood Summit continuum and making Edgewood Summit a true Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). Named after the benefactor of the Phase III project, the Arthur B. Hodges Center at Edgewood Summit offers memory support and skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.

The mission of Edgewood Summit is to provide an attractive, caring, comfortable and affordable senior living community.

I am living in a retirement home called The Edgewood Summit. Right now, it's atypical due to the COVID virus, but they are supportive and very helpful here. They have 24-hour nursing and a physician available. The staff is very friendly, they're very cooperative, very helpful, and I really don't have anything bad to say about them. They have activities all the time. They also have movies and educational programs. They're very neat and very cooperative. If you have any problems, they come and take care of it right away. The community is close to the mall and Edgewood Country Club.

My experience with Edgewood Summit was good. It's very clean, except that they allow people to smoke. The food is fair, and the staff is excellent. There's a salon, exercise room, and activities, like bingo, corn hole, golf putting, dances, and so on.
