I went to Park Vista Retirement Living - Waupaca, which is a retirement community and it was very nice and inviting, but the price just wasn't there. It was very clean and very nice. Everybody there was over 65 and they looked like they were comfortable. It wasn't exactly a tour. It was an open house and you got to walk around. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The dining area was rather big and clean. They had small patios. The facility looked good and laid out nicely.

Park Vista Retirement Living is very beautiful. I like the setting. It’s set right on a golf course. It’s very close to town, but it’s off the road. It’s all covered with trees. I thought it was not at all institutionalized. My in-laws have a 1-bedroom, but the facility has 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and studio apartments. It has a full kitchen. The rooms are beautiful, well kept, all freshly painted when you move in, and new carpeting. The staff is very friendly, very accommodating, and really easy to talk to. All meals are included for independent and assisted living. The food is wonderful. $5 to $6 for me to eat there, and then if somebody wants to stay overnight, they have a room there that they can pay $40 a night. There’s a bus, and they go shopping 3x a week. They’ll take you to any of your appointments; that’s all included. They’ll take you if you wanted to go somewhere and if it wasn’t scheduled -- or if the bus wasn’t running that day -- you call the taxi, and that would be free. The only thing you have to pay for is your phone service. They’re pretty happy since they moved from Arizona. My mother-in-law looked 100% better in 4 weeks just because she’s eating.

Over the last year I have been very disappointed as to the quality of services provided my mother at Park Vista. The quality of the food has definately dropped as have the additional services that are stated as being provided, but are hardly ever provided if provided at all any more.. Many of the residents stated that Park Vista is trying to upgrade their image, inspite of the lowering of standards, and the fear that some of the residents have of speaking up and then beinging evicted for "other" issues.

My Mother was very well treated at Park Vista Waupaca. She made many friends, both staff and residents.
