Harbour Village was very nice but more expensive. It was a little farther south than we wanted to be. I liked everything I saw. The facility looked well kept up and clean. The staff members were very helpful. The chef made us cookies, and that was very nice. We saw the dining room, a couple of different apartments, an area where they do activities, a salon, and an exercise room.

My mom was in Harbour Village. It's too big for senior care, and then I didn't like the atmosphere of how you went from independent, to assisted, and then to memory care. It's like the overall culture, is that it's a downgrade if you go to assisted living, and my mom was very much afraid of moving to assisted living there. So then we moved her out of the facility, because she would have been very depressed, because they don't do activities between all three groups. My mom loved it in the independent living. She liked the activities and the activities director was awesome; he was wonderful. But when they need more care, then it becomes a little bit more difficult to live there. The staff members are overworked, and there's not enough of them. I always saw that people were always waiting to get themselves carted in their wheelchairs. This other place is much nicer, because the patient care ratio is a lot better since it's smaller facility than at Harbour Village.

I saw Harbour Village in Greendale and it was nice and very pleasant. I met a gentleman there, he called me, and I've talked to him two or three times already. I had to tell them that I finally decided that they are just not what I'm looking for at this point, and if the good Lord blessed me, maybe I won't ever. I looked at independent living because that's what I was looking for. I didn't need assistance.
What I liked about it is that they were out in the country a little bit, or on the edge of the city. Harbour Village just looked so nice, and it was peaceful and quiet. It was far enough away that as I walked around the outside, I didn't hear roaring traffic. I didn't hear anything else. I also liked the level of safety.
The staff was very nice. They left me with homemade chocolate chip cookies, which was very nice. They were very large, very chewy, and very tasty. What I liked was that they also had nuts on it, and I like walnuts chopped up in mine, or pecans. It was just very pleasant. I'm thinking that if this is the way they're cooking, everything else has got to be good too.

We made a list of pros and cons of Harbour Village. I think we have one con and a lot of pros. Everything about it was very nice, the layout of the apartment, it had more cupboards in the kitchen, and it had more closets, two closets in each bedroom. It had a little bar that went between the kitchen and dining room. The layout of the apartment was nice. The only thing we didn't like, it wasn't a big deal, but there was no deck or patio door off the apartment. They have two decks on each floor, so that was our only con, otherwise the place was awesome. It was independent and assisted. It would be the same apartment until you needed more care, then you would move across the way in the same building; you would move to a different area. Even the tenants, everybody said hi, and they were very friendly to the people that lived there. I mean, we were just very impressed with Harbor Village. They had two dining rooms, one real fancy, one a little bit more casual, and you could eat at either one, there were no assigned seats, and it was just a nice place. They made us homemade cookies, and they were the best cookies I ever had in my life. There's two patios on each floor, like a seating area outside. The staff, the guy that showed us around, was very professional and thorough. You can park anywhere in the lot. If you didn't take a parking space underground, you could park in the lot anywhere.

Harbour Village is wonderful, but it is not for me. The people who assisted me were very helpful and very informative. I talked to the chef. He basically said that because I have severe allergies to seasonings and am gluten-free, it would be difficult for him to handle. They showed me all the amenities, and they were very nice. They showed me the exercise room, the units, and several different studio styles. The set-up of the room was very nice. It is a room with a kitchen, a bedroom, and a living room. They have bingo. They go for walks, and they have the usual activities. The place is very nice, but it is not for me.

My mom loves Harbour Village independent living. It's marvellous. The staff is so accommodating and helpful. My mom has met wonderful people and is enjoying the meals immensely. Everything's positive. They have transportation, meals, and lots of social activities.

Although I didn't actually have a meal here, I was sent complimentary tickets to eat at another time. I was exceptionally pleased with the 2 bedroom apartment and the beautiful grounds with raised beds for residents to do their own gardening. Very clean building. I asked myself if I would want to live here and the answer is "yes".

Harbour Village was really a nice facility, but I'm just not ready for it. From what I understand and from what I saw, it's a wonderful place. I saw the dining area had white linen tablecloths. I looked at a roomy two-bedroom apartment, but the only thing I didn't like about the apartments was they didn’t have washers and dryers in each one. It didn't have a dishwasher, but I can wash dishes if I have to. From the people that I saw and talked to, it seemed like a very nice place.

I was extremely impressed with Harbour Village. It's definitely my first choice. It was a little older but it was very clean. I thought the individual apartment was much nicer. Definitely, a place where I felt that my mom would be happy once she made the transition. It did have a stove and oven and it had a full fridge. The people who lived there seemed like they were very excited to show what they had at the facility and I thought that was wonderful. It seemed very much that they were very happy.
