GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston was very big and very luxurious in many ways, but they only provided two meals a day. It was much more expensive than the others, and so at that point, the price and the location were the deciding factors for that one. It's a new facility, so the rooms looked nice and they looked well maintained. The staff was pleasant. We only interacted with a couple of people there and they were fine. They just didn't look to be as accommodating as the folks at the other place we toured. People were coming and going, and it looked like an active place, but we didn't observe any organized activities.

GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston was a very upscale place. It's brand new, everything was in great condition, they have a wonderful exercise facility and a swimming pool. It was very expensive. They have nice apartments. I looked at a 2-bedroom apartment and they're all new, so everything is new and the kitchen is nice and shiny. The dining area was very lovely, it's an open plan that's very neat and clean.

My brother has moved to GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston. Our experience has been A-OK, but the food is bad and just poor quality. Everything else seems to be ok. He's just using the residence, he has no special care there. It's a brand-new facility, it's really clean, and right now it's kind of nice because they're only operating about 50-60 percent capacity. So there's no overcrowding. Like when he goes down to participate in the gymnasium, which he likes, it's not very crowded. They have activities, he's just trying to get acclimated and used to his new living conditions. The people seem to be friendly and want to help. Of course, COVID kind of puts a cramp on everybody as far as being able to have openness in the common areas. If I have to go and visit him, I just have to go to his room and can't sit and eat with him or can't sit and participate in anything with him in the common areas because of COVID. It's a nice place, it's clean, and he doesn't cook for himself anymore. He gets two meals a day, but he's complaining about the food that it just has no taste and is not good quality. They told us when we moved in there that the food was great. It's about the going rate, they gave us kind of a deal when we came in there because they were operating at only 50 percent capacity and they're trying to fill the place up, so they were competitive on the pricing. They're pretty much what the going rate is, it's an expensive place to live, but all those places are. It works out to be $127 a day, which is a lot of money.

I went to GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston two or three weeks ago. I like the setting. You're right there, you go down stairs, you go out the front door, and you're right in Ruston and the little shops there. There are a lot of different things going on there. So for the atmosphere, I thought it was really nice. Very nice. The rooms were bigger overall. They were bigger with more square footage than the one I saw yesterday. They had a pool and a weight room. There were some different classrooms for doing all kinds of classes. I thought it was really nice from that standpoint. There was more stuff than you could really do. If you could do everything, you're awesome, and you'd be running around like a chicken with your head cut off. They have three meals a day. It's like a restaurant and it's open all the time, so you can go there and eat whenever you want. The staff seemed cordial, and it seemed like they were good staff.

We chose GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston for mom. I liked it for many reasons. Just walking in, it is open and inviting. Every single staff member I met was topnotch. They went out of their way to make my mom feel comfortable. I enjoyed very much their ability show me around and to see all the different activities that they have. The pool is a huge plus for my mom because she likes to swim. The rooms are very nice. She's just been in there less than a week now. So far, my mom is loving it. She is somebody who really, really has held on to her independence, and she has transitioned wonderfully. She is in independent living. The staff is topnotch, very professional, very friendly, and very inviting, specifically Erica and Nallely. She has a one-bedroom apartment, and it's like a condo. It's got a shower bench that she can just walk right into. There are safety bars all the way around from the shower to the toilet. It's plenty big. I like the fact that if she needs to stay in her wheelchair, she can roll her wheelchair right up to the sink. The only thing I didn't like about the rooms is that the only built-in lighting is in the kitchen and the bathroom, so you had to bring in lamps for both the bedroom and the living room. They have no overhead lighting for that, but I don't know if that's standard in all of these facilities or not. It's open dining. My mom is gaga about the food. She loves it. I have not had a meal there. They're not allowing anybody to eat there because of Covid. They have a daily happy hour with drinks. They have a pool, a vitality room, crafts, games, a beautiful theater, a bistro, and a private dining area that if you have family members coming in, you can reserve that space. They have a library and a huge lobby sitting area. They had more to offer than any of the places that we looked at.

We went to see GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston. It's brand new. It has just opened and not even a year ago. We met with the staff. She was nice. This is all towards the middle of Covid, so we had to be Covid tested when we got there, and she just showed us around a couple of different rooms and what was available. She showed us the fitness room and the pool and everything that my parents could take advantage of. She answered every question we had. We took a video and she was very patient and let us take the time we needed. It was Covid, so there was no food around, but they were talking about an area that is already built like a little expresso area, and then they would be making like cookies and cupcakes and that kind of stuff for all the people that are there. They also had a salad bar that they were getting set up, but due to Covid, they weren't able to do that yet. They're opening the fitness center up. I had nothing bad to say about GenCare, and it was very nice. We looked at both assisted living and independent living.
