The Chesapeake was too large for me. The people were nice. I did not eat any meals there, but they offered. They offered quite a few other things that you could do that the other place did not. They had one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, and they were nice. They had therapy rooms and a few more amenities than the other place had. It was clean, and the staff during the tour was very good. I just didn't like the fact that they didn't have assigned parking in the location.

The Chesapeake is a nice community, but it was not within our price range. It was immaculate and was just like a home. The staff is very friendly and they cater to the residents' needs. The place itself is very modern, they have a state-of-the-art dining area, and it's like a hotel type setting. The rooms can be personalized, and designed the way they like it. When I was there I saw the residents doing different things. Some were watching a movie, others were playing cards, and some of them were in the exercise area. The food looked appealing. It was a good place.

We visited The Chesapeake. We put a deposit on it, but now, we can’t go there because their policy is you have to be physically fit when you go in. The Chesapeake is run by the Virginia Baptist, and it is a lovely facility. However, my husband has just had surgery for hydrocephalus, and he has a shunt in his skull. If you’re living there and your health deteriorates, they’ll take care of you. You start out independent, and as you age and you require more help, they do have a place for you; that’s why they’re not taking anyone in that is already incapacitated. The Chesapeake is really a lovely place. My heart was broken when my husband said, "I can’t do it." It is where I grew up, so consequently I have friends there. One lovely thing is when you go in, you do have a pretty good-sized fee to pay down, but if your money runs out, they will take care of you. They won’t kick you out or send you somewhere else. The food is excellent.
