Summerfield Retirement was just a little bit old fashioned and a little bit dated. I know they've been around a while. The cleanliness seemed to be good. It was a little bit awkward at first because apparently nobody told the person in charge that we were coming. They were a little miffed about it. Other than that, it was fine. They were eventually helpful and friendly. The dining area was elegant.
The best thing and the reason we went there was the beautiful pond at the back in the gardens. It was really lovely. It was just brimming with beautiful waterlilies, fish, and everything. It was very, very picturesque. It would be a very nice feature to be able to escape to, if you were living there.
I toured Summerfield Retirement. It's one big building, but the levels of care are separated. I looked at three different apartments. They have a nice courtyard. It's got a pond, trees, and a walking area. It was nice that they had covered parking. The unit itself has a full kitchen. It has a nice kitchen with a microwave and a stove. It was nice that their laundry facilities were in the closet right in your own apartment. They have a barbershop where you can get your hair cut. They have high-speed internet in all the rooms. It was sort of nice that if you have a problem, it's right across the street from Timpanogos Hospital. It's very convenient for shopping. You don't even have to cross the main street, you could walk down very easily to a big grocery store, a bunch of shops, fast food places, and stuff like that. The one thing I like about that one the most was it's only two blocks to get onto the freeway. Right now, I'm independent, but the nice thing that would be about it is if you got to the point where you had to be in assisted living, you wouldn't have to move out of the building. The person who gave me the tour was the owner. They have been nice. I like their garden area, too.
Summerfield Retirement is very nice. It's very elegant, clean, and accessible. My mom has been there for a couple of years now. She was thinking that she might want to move closer to one of her daughters; but she's decided that she likes it, so she's staying there.
The staff is excellent. Her room is very, very nice. It's a large two-bedroom apartment. The dining area is very nice and very elegant too. The food is wonderful. Then they have crafts. There are people that come in and do musical shows for them and church services. They have quite a few activities like that.
We found Summerfield Retirement for my parents. It is just a medium-sized community, so I feel like it's more personal. It's very clean. They have activities every day, and the food is cooked on site. It is all one story, so no stairs. It has two wings, and the rooms were down on each side. The central area is the dining and the activity room.
My parents have said the food is all very good. The staff is extremely friendly and very responsive. They notify me if there's any problem very quickly. They were painting for an activity. My parents have been there for three months now. I think they're reasonably priced. Currently, they're independent because my mom's husband is with her and takes care of her, so he is doing the assisting.
My mother-in-law will move into Summerfield Retirement in a week. We chose it because the apartments are larger and nicer than any of the other places we looked at. The staff we met with were really helpful and friendly, so we like them a lot. They have an exercise area, a salon where they do haircuts and colors, and a dining area.
I looked at both the assisted living and independent living of Summerfield Retirement. It was really nice and there were some features on the independent side that I was really impressed with, like the emergency cords. The other communities didn't have that and it was much nicer. We had a one-one-tour, she explained everything, sat down with me, and showed me numbers. I just thought they were really thoughtful in the way they showed people around, and I thought it was really great. I thought they had a nice dining area in the assisted area, as well as an all day snack bar area where the residents can get food if they need it. They have in-house church services.
Summerfield Retirement was nice. It was clean, a little lower grade than the others, but the independent living was good. They have covered parking for the people who bring cars. It didnt seem quite as friendly, and I didnt get the feeling that they would have much interaction with other people. The staff was nice, but not quite as friendly as the others. I didnt observe any activities, but they had an activity sheet available showing what they had going on. Everybody was in their apartments, and there was no intermingling going on. The dining area was quite small.
