Description

About This Community

Modeled to capture the unique culture of San Antonio, this community exudes a sense of history and timeless presence through its thoughtfully designed features. The resident experience begins with a welcoming arrival courtyard, featuring the cooling sounds of a classic water fountain surrounded by native plants. As soft music wafts through the air, a person immediately has a unique sense of place. At the arrival Porte Cochére, a covered loggia escorts the resident past a serene garden courtyard before entering the reception foyer. Once inside, the interior spaces feature a relaxed and sophisticated feel reminiscent of a grand estate where charming rooms become engaging spaces. There is a sense of history, a play of light and pleasant textures.

We offer mild memory care apartments, also known as the “bridge”. Unique to Franklin Park, the bridge apartments offer mild memory care for residents who benefit from person-centered care from licensed staff skilled in the treatment of dementia-related diseases. Mild memory residents are physically able to do many tasks and activities independently but may need some redirection and reminders. “Wander-guard” bracelets are available for loved ones who may be at-risk for exit-seeking and the bracelet will trigger an alarm if they exit the building. Floor plans and features are similar to assisted living apartments and include a designated outdoor courtyard, dining room, living space and pantry.

ACTIVE, FIT, AND HEALTHY – FOR LIFE

We know a big part of enjoying retirement comes from staying active, engaged, and healthy. Because we want to offer our residents a culture focused on the best possible quality of life, we make health and wellness an important part of everyday living.

FIT AT EVERY AGE

We’re proud to offer senior-friendly fitness centers at every one of our communities. Residents can pursue a self-guided, independent fitness program at their own pace, using treadmills, recumbent bikes, and free weights. Our fitness centers make it easy to maintain or improve physical fitness in a casual atmosphere, and offer a fun way to socialize with friends, too.

Come on in, the water’s fine! For those in the mood for a dip, some of our communities also offer swimming pools and swimming-related social and fitness activities, such as water aerobics.

EAT WELL, LIVE WELL

Eating well goes hand in hand with physical fitness, and our chefs make it their mission to serve a variety of healthy options to please the palate and nourish the body.

We believe eating right can be as delicious as it is nutritious. Our meals are created to help our residents meet their dietary fitness and nutrition goals, with special consideration for health concerns such as diabetes, gluten sensitivity, weight management, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

EASY ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE

For non-emergency medical care, we can provide a list of qualified, independent health professionals in the local area, including doctors, nurses, and physicians’ assistants. We can also help schedule an appointment, and even arrange transportation to and from an office visit.

In addition, many of the providers on our list of recommended health professionals will make house calls upon request, so residents can still get the medical help they need.

You don’t have to search far to find the perfect blend of proper nutrition, social and physical activity, and readily available medical care. Choosing a

Franklin Parkcommunity is the smart way for seniors to secure a happier – and healthier – retirement.

Franklin Park Alamo Heights was relatively new and the apartments seemed to be quite spacious. It was probably a little bit above our price range, but it was very nice. I was just very disappointed that we could not see some of the apartments. The lady said that we would have to make an appointment with the people that live in the apartments to let us tour inside and so we would have to do another tour, which we're not going to do. I felt that the facility should have advised us about that before our visit because we would have said yes, that we wanted to see some of the apartments It looked like an upscale hotel lobby when you go into the facility. It was very nice and it seemed that they had a lot of activities. They had an indoor pool, a fitness center, a place where you can do glasswork, and even a kiln if you're interested in doing something like that. There's a lot of woodwork, game nights, and theater nights. I just felt like the lady that showed us around was rushing us through it. I kept up with her as we were moving around the facility, but my husband was a good 20 paces behind us (as he walks relatively slowly). Although she answered any questions we had, I just felt it was too rushed.

I toured Franklin Park Alamo Heights. They were very professional. Our tour was very well-done from the apartments, the assisted living, and all different phases of care. The staff person that gave the tour was very knowledgeable and very friendly. The apartment was very clean and very economy-driven; I liked it. I thought that the facility was well-kept and well-lit. Some people in the independent living asked me if I was there for a tour. When I said yes, they said they love it there. I saw their exercise room, theater room, the kitchen, and workout room. They have an art project room and a mechanical room. All the things that the residents do and are provided by that community are really well done.

We liked Franklin Park Alamo Heights very much. The apartments were very nice and large, and we really liked that they had a dining area. Their kitchens, bathrooms, and walk-in closets were are all very big. The other amenities were very nice, too. I really liked that they have a workshop for men, and they also have a higher percentage of men in their population, which is unusual, because a lot of retirement communities have mostly women for obvious reasons. The food we tried was very good. They're gearing back up on a lot of things, because COVID shut down some of the activities. I don't know specifically as far as weekly activities they have, but they do take you to the doctors' appointments, to Walmart or Target, and stuff like that. The person who toured us was extremely friendly, helpful, and answered all our questions. The building itself was just beautiful. I think it was fairly new, like three or five years old. It was very nice.

I'm in the waiting list at Franklin Park Alamo Heights. It's very light. The apartments have a lot of windows, and I like the arrangement of the apartments. They had big closets, and everything was very clean. It was really nice. I didn't meet that many people, but those I did meet were very nice. Lisa, who was the marketing director, was very helpful, very pleasant, and very nice. She arranged for me to spend the night at the Alamo Heights in their guest quarters. She arranged for me to have dinner with one of the residents, and that was nice. I like that. The dining area is very pretty. They have table service, and the food was quite good. They have a lot of activities. Of course, some of them have probably been suspended because of COVID, so I don't think they have quite as many as they previously had, but they're bringing them back. They have a happy hour, which is nice. They have exercises, various card games that people play, and bingo. They have a theater where they show movies. It seemed that they had enough activities to keep me busy.

I'm moving into Franklin Park Alamo Heights. They have fitness classes, all kinds of different kinds of classes, dining facilities, car service and they offer things that the others offer. The staff is very friendly. I only met the person at the front desk and the person who gave me the tour and went around the facility with me, and she is excellent.

We went to Franklin Park Alamo Heights. We had lunch there and it was excellent, but they were out of our price range. The gentleman I was talking to was from my hometown, it was a very nice conversation. The rooms were lovely. The apartment we chose had a flex room, and two bedrooms. The dining room was so pretty. I loved the food; it was excellent. However, it cost more than what we wanted to pay.

Franklin Park Alamo Heights is more of an apartment-style environment, but it caters toward elderly people with some assisted living type of amenities. It is a very high-end senior living place. It has a lot of amenities and it has some medical support. They also provide a transition from the senior living area (which is the situation my mom is in right now) into assisted living when that time comes. I'm happy with it so far. My mom has only been there for about 2 weeks. The place is brand new and there is still construction going on, so it is not established, but she seems to be very satisfied with it. They published a calendar for last month just to give us an idea of the activities that they had.
