We toured CC Young, and the guide showed us the whole layout, and then he showed about three apartments that weren't occupied. It was better than what I was expecting when I went there. It has great views. It's also close to one of my daughter's house. It has a balcony, too.
I haven't signed up with them yet, but that's what I'm leaning toward. I have music as a hobby, and they have a lot of musical activities. I also have woodworking as a hobby, and they have a pretty extensive woodworking shop.
They are rather expensive, but not as expensive as the one in Austin. They have several options in that as far as price. The gentleman that showed us around started out working near the bottom of the ladder, and he's worked himself, and he's extremely knowledgeable.
It has a central small park, and then the other buildings are arranged around it. I think what impressed me most is you have a view of White Rock Lake and Park from the upper floors and balconies. It also is a short walking distance to the White Lake, as an underpass under the busy highway.

We moved our Mom here in 2014. Nice facility, below average food, poor services (sponsored trips etc.). Too expensive - You must purchase your apartment (example 1 br, $390K, 8 yrs ago) and monthly services of currently (7/20/21) of $3,800 for one person - independent living. The apartments are nice. The staff are nice. Seems to be many activities. The place is nice if you can afford the huge monetary outlay. The place is expensive for a "non-profit". It does have different services (memory care, etc) but here again the place is expensive.

C. C. Young was a very impressive facility, we just did not like the upfront cost. The apartments were very nice and open. They're friendly, and it's an excellent location. We didn't also care for their meals. They had three meals available, but their allowance for meals was rather modest. We would've had to pay an addition for our meals. The dining area was very nice, clean, and bright. You can age in place there, and it's a full service facility. For other people, it might be very good. It's an excellent facility; it's just too expensive for us.

The skilled nursing and long term care in the Lawther West building is a detestable nightmare. My Mother had 3 falls during the first 2 weeks of arriving on the 3rd floor.
This facility is short staffed and the staff, doctors and leadership are underqualified. They have no compassion, customer service or professionalism towards the patients and their needs or family concerns.
We are grateful for the selective caregivers and our availability to be present everyday. For this is how we confirmed all the wrong doing, incorrect medications, etc. This was not mere observations, but our terrible reality that we wish on no one else.
We thankfully by God's sovereign mercy were able to move my Mother. We learned that your loved one is better off at a residential home care or with trusted caregivers at home.

Definitely would not recommend to Anyone!! If we had not used C C Young hospice, I believe my Dad would still be alive. I wish I would have known more about hospice, there are quite a few out there. I would have switched. Nurses normal response time was 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. Doctor's response to a nurse calling was almost an entire day. Wrong medicine sent, and given to my Dad. When my Dad had a bowel problem, his nurse told him don't worry multiple times. It is what led to his death

We live in CC Young. It's really great, but they just couldn't take my wife because they didn't have any people doing psychological tests. I liked it so I stayed there. The food is good, the people are all really friendly, and they have a lot of projects for people to do. I have a two-bedroom with free TV and internet. They clean the room once a week or every two weeks. We have lunch with everybody, and you can cook breakfast and dinner in your own kitchen. They have their own rehab and nursing services, church services, and Christmas and New Year parties.

C. C. Young is beautiful. We toured the newest building. They have an entrance fee of $300,000 which you get back if you leave or die. Or if you have to go on to assisted living, then the money is there if it’s needed. The girl who helped us with the tour was just wonderful. She was so good. My son said after the tour, “I wish I was old enough to retire here.” The dining area was wonderful. I was impressed about everything at this facility. The apartments were beautiful. The whole place is well taken care of.

My overall experience with C. C. Young has been good so far. They have a daycare where they go to. They do exercise. They have meetings, and speakers that come in. The staff is good. The surroundings are great. It is very clean and very well organized. They have a lot of staff.

I know people that are in C C Young. The place was a little older, but comfortable. The room has a small kitchen area, a living area, bedroom, and a bath. It was spacious -- not elegant -- but comfortable and homey. They have exercise classes, and the place was safe and secured.

My mom had been going to C.C Young for about 15 years for their senior activities, even though she didn't live there yet, so she knew almost everyone when she moved in, and it was an easy transition for her. The general staff, such as the housekeeping, the people in the kitchen, the maintenance, they are all great. I think they have adequate staff. They have probably six to ten different activities a day. They are very, very active. They have all different levels of exercises. Mom does chair exercises because she has a bad hip. She plays bridge three or four times a week. She plays bowling on the Wii computer every week. She is in the choir, they practice once a week, and then once a month they go over to the assisted living or the hospital to sing for the residents that can't get out. They have movies, I think it's once a month. What I really like is they have free transportation to the grocery store and the shopping center every week by bus. If she wants to go, she can sign up and go to the grocery store. They have free transportation to the doctor. They have painting, but she doesn't do that. They have poetry writing, a book club, and jewelry making. The funniest thing is that in most senior places all they do is Bingo, and they don't have Bingo, but they have a lot of different stuff. She has a remodeled apartment, and she has a full kitchen with a granite countertop, stainless steel appliances, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, stove, all brand new. She has an eat-in kitchen, a living room, a very large bedroom, a large bathroom with a walk-in shower, and they have a washer-dryer connection in the room. The staff and the residents, everyone speaks, and you wear a name tag and everyone learns your name and they are very responsive. They have maintenance on the staff twenty-four hours a day. And, another thing that I like is they require all of the residents to wear a life alert, which is a necklace for emergencies, and they are monitored twenty-four hours a day. They have housekeeping every other week; they completely clean her apartment and change the linens on her bed. She gets two meals a day in the dining room. She loves the food. They always have two or three meats, five or six vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, and ice cream. It is like a cafeteria. She has been there for five months, and she is just happy as can be. It is very clean, and I feel it is very safe. I think they care about the residents. Every one there including maintenance, is always working around; repairing, and working in the yard, they always have flowers, and all the staff seem very happy to be there. All the residents seem happy; everyone speaks. It is just a really nice place.

When my grandmother's dementia got bad enough she wasn't able to live on her own, my aunt moved in with her. But quite soon after it was decided she needed to be somewhere with professionals. So she went to CC Young. It was a very nice facility, clean and pleasant. Grandmother didn't like it there, but she really just wanted to go home, her not being happy there was not a reflection on the facility itself. We live very nearby, and visited often. Grandmother preferred to read in her room most of the time, but a lot of the residents liked to be out visiting, and there was always a crowd of them talking or playing cards, or watching tv out in the common areas. The staff were all very friendly and seemed patient and kind. We were very happy with them. The only problems we had were when Grandmother kept falling, and that wasn't really their fault. They wanted to tie her to her wheelchair and keep her right by the front desk where they could watch her, which she hated. This issue was never really resolved well, as my Grandmother passed away soon after this issue arose. Overall it was a good facility.
