When we went to Vitality Living Shadow Hills, we realized that it was more of dependent living accommodations, it didn't fit our needs, and so we just really didn't follow through with the rest of the tour. There's the main building and then there are four cottages. The cottages for independent living were very limited and then having to walk from the cottages over to the main building to get food and things like that was just not what we were looking for. We saw a cottage and it was very nice. As far as the rest of the amenities being in the main building, we did not get to see all of that. We saw the cottage, we saw the daily walk from the cottage to the main building to eat the three meals a day, and it just didn't suit what we were looking for, so we just kind of stopped.

My mother was a resident and it was excellent. They have independent cottages outdoors, and she lived in one of them, bu they also have a nursing facility for the assisted living residents. She didn't eat in the dining room, but they brought her meals to her when she was sick, and their food was good. She had her own little yard and she's responsible for that. They let her grow whatever and that was good. They had a lot of activities like crafts, church, and they went out about once a month or so. They were very active and everyone inside was participating. They also had a fall festival once a year that they did as a fundraising thing; it's a big thing for the area.

It was very nice. It's one of my choices when the time comes. The staff who showed me around was very knowledgeable and very courteous. I talked to one of their residents and I liked how happy they were. They had games, Scrabble, and an exercise room.

I visited and I thought the residents were happy, and the staff was engaged. The dining area was good. It seemed like a happy place.

I thought the staff was some of the nicest people I have ever been around. Once I entered the building, I was greeted instantly and they even asked if they could help me. The sleeping conditions were great, which is very important at an older age. I thought my grandmother was getting okay attention, but when I showed up I realized that she was getting exceptional attention. They staff told me that they keep everyone busy and have regular activities, which I thought was great. It is a good way to keep them busy. I also thought the other patients that were in the home were also friendly. This meant a lot to me and my grandmother because I wanted her to be around people she could get along with and socialize with. The building was easy to get around, which is also another factor that made this community center great.
