I'm at Attiva Pearland. The one thing I like about it is it's one story. You have a front yard and a front door and you have a backyard and a back door. It's very well kept. It's got one way in and one way out. You have one of those overhead carports and they're grouped in four to five. You can park right at your front door. In the middle, they have the all-purpose room and it has everything you would want, exercise, salon, and clubhouse. The people that work in the office are very helpful. They have something every day. They have an outdoor pool that's about four feet and a half, a jacuzzi, and a hot tub. They have barbecue pits and they have a covered patio. They have activities every day depending on what you want to do. The price depends on how much money you want to spend or how much you want. I chose it for two reasons, the one floor and also next door is the subdivision where my family lives. We are a gated community, and when I go out my front door and get in my car, it just takes me 3 minutes to go to our gate then go through my daughter's gate and go to her house. It's right next door to what we would call a family community. There are people here that have home health care come and do for them also. The staff is very nice. Some people are just customer service friendly and they have that gift for interacting with older people, and the manager is very efficient. They have another young lady who interacts with the senior age generation. It's just really helpful. They don't talk down to you or patronize you. They're just respectful. It's wonderful. The maintenance is awesome. If you put in a work request, they have it finished that day.

I was a resident of Attiva Pearland. It was a senior facility with twenty-six buildings and six apartments per building. I got upset because they sold it and wanted to remodel our bathroom and kitchen. I knew what they were doing, and when my lease came up they raised my rate by fifty percent, so that's why I left. They have all of the amenities that you need: an exercise room, a pool, a gym, and activities. The facility is clean, and it's really independent. That's the size of it. Personnel-wise, they have a heavy turnover, and they're owned by a company out of Atlanta; it's a typical big-buyout type thing. It's ninety percent women, and that's how they're taking advantage of people, because the older women are not that in tune with how to manage facilities that they need. Most of them are either widowed women, retired school teachers, or some retired nurses. You have to cook food yourself.

The Villages of Towne Lake is where I'm living. It's a 55-plus gated community with individual apartments. I have a nice one-bedroom with a study, kitchen, a dining room, a bathroom, a bedroom, a living room, and a study room. The staff is very nice and very congenial. If you want to get involved in activities, they have cards and games. They don't feed us, but we cook our own food.

We have been very pleased with it. We liked it because its private and the units are quiet and private. The place is very secure. The swimming pool is awesome and my mom can go there in the morning and does her exercises. The staff are quick and very prepared. The place is fairly accessible.
