Morada Lake Arlington was great. The atmosphere was wonderful. They had some construction going on, but it was mostly behind closed doors and very unobtrusive. The people were wonderful. The management and everyone in the staff just seemed most considerate of you as an individual. Their interest was not just in the business, but it was in the person that they were dealing with.
Their amenities were much more varied than the other places. Surely you can find something that you're interested in with all the variety they have to offer, from exercise to activities, to hobbies, to just anything like that. The residents were more than friendly, too. They were really interested in having you come in and be a part of their community. The facilities were easy to get around in. If you're not able to be around, they assist you beautifully. From the moment you walk in the door, the lady that greets you is so friendly and immediately calls whoever you should see. Even the chef came out to me when we had lunch there, and the food was wonderful.
The apartments were great. Almost all of them have really nice views. Their rate was so good that I went ahead and reserved the next bigger apartment. It's real roomy. Not only that, they're going to take all the carpet out in the bedroom and put in a vinyl for me, so I can deal with needles and pins (I sew a lot). I thought that was most accommodating. The one-bedroom apartments and the studio all have kitchenettes (without a stove and oven), but the two bedrooms have them. That was very enticing. It's a good experience all around.
I visited Morada Lake Arlington. The lady who assisted me was very informative and very personable. She gave me a tour and showed me a room, along with other areas like the little shop and their cafeteria. She told me about what was covered, and we discussed prices and everything. I found the facility to be very nice, and it's someplace that I would definitely consider moving. The only drawback for me was that the facility did not have full kitchens. They only had kitchenette, and I'm just not interested in that at this point. If am going to move in the next year or two, I would not want just a kitchenette; that was the only drawback. There was only one unit in that particular facility that had a kitchen, and so what are the odds of getting that one? The reasoning is that all the meals are provided. I guess they must think that you don't really need a full kitchen, but I like to cook. It was the only drawback.
Also another drawback is that it's small because I'm coming from a two-story house, but I understand that. I mean, that's my problem that I have to downsize considerably.
Everything else about it was lovely. From what I saw, we looked at one room and we walked around a bit. It looked fine and looked clean. There were people walking about, and it seemed fine. It's in a very nice part of town and in a very lovely area. She said that they were going to do some sprucing up. They were going to do some painting and do some carpeting replacement. It looks fine to me.
I didn't have any food there. She didn't offer me lunch, but she told me that there were menu selections that you could make and so forth. She actually showed me the menu posted on the entrance to the cafeteria area, and it was very nice. It looks nice and open. It was a seated kind of thing, tables and all that kind of stuff. It was very nice. There wasn't anything about it that I couldn't have lived with, except for the kitchen.
It's very nice, but the thing is that the kitchenette was very restrictive. You couldn't even bring a hot plate in. You could have a microwave and a toaster oven, and that's it. I just need to cook more for myself.
I went to see the independent living at Morada Lake Arlington and the overall experience was good. It smells funny there. It's very nice, clean, and well cared for. The people seem to be having some fun doing things residents do. The person who gave me the tour was saying hi to everybody if you walk past them, and they were saying hi back to her. It was a friendly place, it was good. The facility was great and they have everything you need there. The rooms were good and they were big enough. They took me to see everything, including a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom. Their menu looks the same as a lot of places. It's good, it has variety, and a couple of choices for every meal. The reason why we're not going to choose this one is that when you need assisted living, you'd have to move into another building. So, in their property, you have the independent in one building, assisted in another building, and then memory care in a third building, so my mom would have to change apartments. If she went in as independent living and she got her apartment all set up, and she was used to it and the staff that took care of her, she was used to all those people. Then if she needed assisted living services, like to help with the shower or help with medication, she would need to move and leave that apartment and move into a different apartment building.
I had an in-person tour of Morada Lake Arlington. The rooms were a good size. It was in a nice neighborhood. The residents seemed nice and at home. It was pretty clean. It wasn't as homey as the other facility, but it was close.
The staff was very informative, she showed us the rooms and was very personable. She was wonderful. They had the everyday menu for the picky eater, should we say. We went at lunchtime, and they were still serving lunch. But because of Covid, they wouldn't allow you in there, which I understood. The dining room was a good size. They had all the amenities that my mother would need. They had a barbershop and a beauty shop.
We went with Morada Lake Arlington for my parents. It was excellent, the staff is wonderful, and they have plenty of planned activities. Their room is nice with tall ceilings, full amenities, and accessibility features. It has a very open floor plan so it feels bigger than it is; my parents are very pleased with it. It's a spacious studio apartment with plenty of room for a queen-sized adjustable bed, a living area, dining area and kitchen equipped with refrigerator and microwave, and a very large bathroom with walk-in shower amenities. They have a beauty salon, they have a spa, 2 courtyard areas, alibrary, a dining facility, also a private dining facility for families with a kitchen. They have options to either do their laundry or have laundry facilities provided for them. They do planned activities 3 times a day, both social engagement and physical activities. So they have a physical therapist on-staff, they have an activities director on-staff, and a nurse on-staff. The food is great, and when I go there they usually ask me what to eat. I love the way it's laid out, I think it's ideal how they have 2 inner-courtyards and the centralized area for both engagements and dining are both in the middle. This was priced more reasonably than others that had less. They have 2 regular visitation days on a weekday, and also Sunday. They allow at any day of the week if I have anything important to relay or bring to my parents, they allow that, even up until 10:00 at night one time. Right now they're limiting it to 2 people at a time visiting because of COVID.
