I went to Holiday Cypress Woods. The people that run the place and those that take care of the people were wonderful. I locked my keys in my car, and they helped me get help. It was just wonderful. I just wish that the place was updated. The dining room is nothing special, but that doesn't have to be. It looked older even though they were painting it and it had carpet on the floor, which I prefer not to have. However, the staff were great. They're wonderful.

I went to Holiday Cypress Woods, and that's the one I've decided on. I really walked in there and felt at home. The staff member was very kind. They did not seem condescending to me at all. It was wonderful. She introduced me to the residents when we were going through different things, and even the residents were nice. It's not a big fancy place. They don't even have a big fancy exercise room, but I'm not a big, fancy person, so I fit in and felt very comfortable. They have a library in there and I'm a reader. They have so many different things. I was just very impressed.
The room was a little small, but I've lived in smaller. They serve meals, but if you don't feel like having their meals, they have a kitchen thing there for you to be able to cook your own if you want. I love the tranquility of it. It was just very calming to me. The staff was very nice, and that hadn't happened to me in a while. I told my brother I don't even want to look at nothing else and explained that I've chosen this. I wouldn't mind living there at all. They will even take me to my doctor in Tomball. I was amazed. To me, it was just perfect.
They showed me the recreational room and bingo goes in there. There were people in there learning how to paint different things. The lady that did the activities say they do all kinds of things every week for the residents. They showed me a room that had wall-to-wall books. I'm either reading or crocheting, so it was perfect to me. The staff member called each person by name. That woman cares about these residents. I lived in an apartment for three years and didn't even know my neighbors.
They're not the most elaborate place, but as far as caring and nurturing, that is a total five. The facility was very nice. There were so many things to do. You could either sit in your room and watch your TV, or you can go downstairs. They have the dining area and the cooking area. They have a room where people just put in puzzles, and there are like hundreds of puzzles there, and there's a card table there. There's everything that old people like me want to do.

Holiday Cypress Woods is a good community. They have good activities for the elderly. They have caring available for them and I would recommend it to anyone interested in living there. They have prayer meetings, dominos, and various games, puzzles, reading, and movie nights. The physical appearance is good. They have a salon, a medical facility, and a caring unit. My mother has a one-bedroom unit, which has a kitchenette and a living room area, and it's a sufficient size.

Cypress Woods was a very welcoming, warm building. They've made it into a home. You come in the front door and you've got the staircase and it's just like a big grand house. There were different rooms that I thought were interesting. The kitchen that you could use on your own if you wanted to cook now and then was a great idea. The library was nice and the activities room. They had a big variety of rooms where you could do something. You weren't limited. You didn't feel closed in. The architecture of the place was nice, too, because it's so open. I liked the rooms, the views to the rooms, the yard, the front yard, the backyard, that kind of thing. The atmosphere was nice. Things looked clean. They were in the process of painting and recarpeting. It looks like they're keeping it up so that it stays nice and fresh.
I liked the fact that they had so many different public rooms, like the library and the activities room and you had a nice selection of apartments. I liked the fact that you could live there and, from what I understand, you add on to your services on top. You pay the rent and then if you need more services, you just add on to the price of what you need. The manager said they were a little shorthanded because they had an assistant manager who resigned. I liked her manner. She was not high pressure. She was very low-key. It was kind of like, "Let me know what you think." It was the opposite of buying a used car. It's very low pressure. "We hope you like it here, and we hope that you will move in" kind of thing.

My mom was in an independent living called Cypress Woods. She really liked it and she did not want to move, but she's 93 and couldn't do things on her own anymore. They have outside people that come in there all the time but she needed a lot more nursing assistance, like assistance with medication, and they could not do that at Cypress Woods. For independent living though, it was a very nice place and the cost was very good. We hated to move from there because it's over double the price for her new place, but she gets a lot more care there. That's just the difference.
They have a lot of things like bingo, movie nights, and a lot of other activities for the people. They bus people to different things, like once a week, they have a going up thing for lunch somewhere. Or they take them to different shops if they want to.
They had an outdoor area, a central cafeteria where they provide 3 meals a day. My mother enjoyed the food and the staff there. They offered different trips and they would try to figure out what the people wanted to do. They even have an Astros ballgame outing if people want to go to that. They went to different things, usually, once a week or so. They go to some different place or a restaurant that people would want to go out to.

I have received excellent care. They're very efficient and friendly. All the residents are very friendly and efficient. The meals are excellent.

I liked Cypress Woods the best. It was very nice. The residents were very happy. What I liked the least was that there was no medication management or diet management. It was definitely independent living, and that wasn't appropriate for my friend. The only person I talked to was the director. She and I both decided it wasn't an appropriate place for my friend. They were very interested, but they agreed with me that it wasn't the right place for my friend. The facilities that I saw were very nice. The staff was very nice. They even asked me if I would come back and teach sewing classes.
The areas I saw were clean and looked well maintained. Somebody's family had donated a sewing machine, but nobody knew what to do with it. So, I offered to come back and teach classes. When I was there, they were having a baseball party, and most of the residents were gathered in the central area for that. They also have an activities room, which is where the sewing machine was set up. I saw the dining area. It was in a good location. It's near hospitals, restaurants, and shopping.

Cypress Woods looked nice, except for the price. The apartments they showed me didn't have a stove or anything, so it's full independent living. The person who gave me the tour was nice and friendly. I wasn't there that long, but it looked nice and looked comfortable. There were a lot of things I liked about it, but then again, the biggest problem was the cost. The bathroom was nice, and it looked like it would be comfortable for me to take a shower in. The grounds looked well kept and the residents looked satisfied. The people were very nice and as helpful as could be.

We chose Cypress Woods for my brother-in-law because of the drive to get there. We liked it. It's a ground-floor apartment for him, and it has everything he needs. It's easier for us to get there as far as traveling goes, and it's easier for my kids to get there to see their uncle. We're just satisfied with it. Everything they had to offer was wonderful. They have activities, which we want him to get involved in; we don't want him just sitting in his apartment. They have exercise classes too. We don't have to worry about him cooking, since he can get three meals a day in the cafeteria or take it back to his room. We were impressed with everything. We think he'll be good and happy there.
The apartment that he's getting has been remodeled. They took out the carpet and put in laminate flooring. As somebody who uses both a wheelchair and a walker, it's easier for him to get around; the carpet is kind of difficult. He's getting a newly remodeled apartment, and we're excited to get him in there. Hopefully, this is going to be the answer to his troubles, because in his senior-citizen apartment that he had, he just sat there all day, he didn't do anything, and he ate the wrong things.
The staff answered all our questions and showed us what they had in the price range that we were looking for. They didn't try to push us on anything. The lady who was going to give us the tour was tied up on a conference call, so another lady stepped in and showed us around the dining room and the atrium. She was really nice to us. We were really impressed.
We were pretty satisfied with the menu in that he has a choice. He can have the meal that they're providing or he can have a healthy choice on the side. It's a good place, but they had a water pipe break in the kitchen area, so they're doing some remodeling. Otherwise, everything was clean.
Betty
Cypress Woods was nice. I visited during the pandemic, so the activities were not like it would have been under normal circumstances. We saw a sample apartment. They're all small. They have activities, but the activities are limited. The staff was fine, but the ones at the other place spent more time with me. The facility was clean.

We went to Cypress Woods. It was wonderful and Tanya was amazing. She was thorough, professional, informative, and all-around great. We were looking at a studio apartment, and it was handicap accessible. They had a fitness area, a hair salon, people to come and help you, and they even had transportation.

I went to Cypress Woods for my dad, but the person did not give me a tour. I walked in and she sat at her desk, she never stood, it was a very cluttered office, she turned her chair around and said, "I see here that you wanted a two-bedroom for $3,000 a month. I don't have anything that starts for less than $3,200, so I don't think I can help you." I stood up and walked myself out. She was extremely unprofessional. She had no idea of our financial situation, not realizing that I could add $1,000 more if she only asked. She was awful. The outside was fine. No one took me on a tour. No one pointed out or highlighted anything.

Right now, I'm in Cypress Woods. It's great. Everybody has been very professional and helpful. I got a studio. I barely got all my stuff in here, but that's not their fault, I just have too much stuff. It's working out fine.
The housekeeping comes once a week and I have her change out my bedclothes. They provide me meals and housekeeping changes out my bed for me because I can't do that. It causes me a great deal of back pain to try to change the sheets and it takes me 30 to 45 minutes to do it. They got a personal alarm device. If you fall and can't get up, you can press the button and EMT will come. There is plenty of food, except salad. They have a chef and what they fix us is good stuff.
I haven't participated in any activities yet. I have now just come out of what they call quarantine. The first two weeks, you're quarantined away from activities just in case you got COVID. I'm just now out of that, so I can participate in activities. The living atmosphere is very friendly. Everybody is interested in what you're doing and how you're doing it.

I really liked Cypress Woods the most. It was super clean, it was very attractive, it's nestled back in some trees, yet they're not that far away from major highways and hospitals. The person that gave me my tour was outstanding, and she was their sales leader. Monday was her day off, yet she came in and gave me my tour anyway. The apartments were basically the same as the other one, but better kept. There I saw quite a few people, she called everybody by their first name or miss or mister, and everybody in there was so friendly. That was probably one of the nicest places I've been, but I think a lot of it had to do with the staff and the way they were treating people and talking to people. That one's only about 35 to 40 minutes from my house, so it's very convenient.

They have a great staff! They go above and beyond all expectations. This is truly is a great place to live! They've done an excellent job at keeping us safe during COVID.

My mother was a "challenging"person and had been in several other facilities. But when she came here she was able to find a place she liked. I lived out of town and wasn't able to visit as often as I wished but I was able to call the office manager and check on her when ever I needed!Shoutout to Melissa. She lived here till she passed and I was glad THIS is where she was.

My mom became a part of their family. The residents were kind. It allowed her to maintain her independence without me having to worry what my mom was going to eat at meal time. The housekeepers were great.

We moved my father here from another facility with a heavy heart. I only knew the name given to me by a friend. This place with meeting Toryna was the best gift. Toryna guided me every step of the way. I could not have done this without her. She is the very best at what she does. I feel I made the right decision now. No worries! That is a relief.

My mother is moving into Cypress Woods. It's very nice, the people there are friendly, the environment there is nice, and they take care of their residents. They social distance and they actually have you quarantined for 14 days before you can come out into the enviornment, so they make sure that the environment is safe.

They would assist my 95-year-old mom when she could be rude and difficult and keep smiling. When my mom moved due to monetary reasons, she called Cypress Woods to bring her breakfast. They called her new residence to explain her needs. They were still helping mother after she left.

I toured Cypress Woods and enjoyed it. A young woman toured me around, and I felt very comfortable with her. I saw a lot of different things, including large and small rooms. Once a month, they go to lunch to some restaurants. I had been there a couple of times, and I was able to sit for lunch with a lady Ive known from church, and I was very glad. I was impressed with the staff member and enjoyed talking with her. She seemed to be on the ball, and knew pretty much what I asked about. I thought theyre really friendly, and Ive had phone calls wanting me to come to dances. The food was good every time I ate there, and the staff was very attentive, made sure we had what we wanted, and listened to what we told them. Ive helped with Bible study there, and Im glad they take people to church.

I toured Cypress Woods. Its very nice, but its really for someone older. They treated me really nice, and we had lunch with a couple of ladies. Everybody was friendly, the apartments were nice, and the lady I was sitting next to had been there for ten years. They have a TV room, movie nights, they had a nice dining room, a pool table, and a library.

Cypress Woods was too expensive for me. I felt the rooms were acceptable but not nice compared to the price they're asking. I wasn't impressed with the rooms. If I had lots of money, I might consider staying there, but I think I could find some place nicer for the money. However, the food was good, the residents and the staff members were very nice and very friendly.

I like Cypress Woods' open area and courtyard. They have activities daily, a swimming pool, a gym with a trainer, and a bus that goes to different places. Once a week they have a schedule that tells them where they're going, like to the mall or to the casino, which is nice. They provide housekeeping if you want it, but they don't require it. They have a hairdresser who comes once a week and an activities director. The staff is excellent, informative, helpful, knowledgeable, and eager to answer questions. They serve breakfast and lunch but dinner is on the residents. The food was great. We saw one apartment, but they didn't have any available for us. We have to go on a waiting list, but the waiting list was only for 20 days. They have people coming and going all the time.

When I am old, I would like to be at Cypress Woods. It is my favorite one. The staff members were very kind. We got in there at dinner time, and they invited us, so that was a very nice gesture of them, and the food was delicious. I went there with my husband, and I loved it; I love the service, the food, and the place. The rooms were very neat and very spacious, and the grounds were awesome.

Cypress Woods is really very nice. I made several friends, and every room in the place has big front windows and door to patios. The meals are decent. I do exercise, some walking, taking care of the cats, and watching soccer games. They have a bus that goes out every day to stores, doctors and places that people need to go, and because of the transportation, you can get to wherever you need to go easily. We have three meals a day and lots of choices in each meal. The staff is very friendly and available. We have at least 2 laundries on each floor. We have a library and various activities during the day and evenings. I'm happy being here, as happy as you can be.

We were very impressed with Cypress Woods. It’s in a nice, secure area. The dining area was very clean, organized, and looked like a cafeteria. They were eating when I visited. The rooms were nice, clean, freshly painted, and spacious for a studio apartment. They had spacious rooms downstairs for bingo and a movie room for seniors. They had several activities planned throughout the week for them. I was impressed with their activity and exercise schedule. They had bingo, movie night, and take them out once a week to go shopping.

When we walked in at Cypress Woods. they were eating, and they’re just sitting. The whole area was full of people sitting, and nobody was walking around. They all looked unhappy, they were in wheelchairs, and it’s very strange for me. It’s expensive -- $2400 for one person. It’s open parking and not a gated community.

Cypress Woods was a very nice facility. It looked good, and the rooms seemed nice, but it just didn’t feel like it would fit my lifestyle. The dining area was very nice and very clean and set up to where it would encourage people to sit down and share tables together. They have travel programs for the residents. and they do some in-house games to keep people involved. A very nice facility.

The lady who took us around Cypress Woods was not as thorough because she was more of a manager. The person who normally does the tour was on leave at that time. However, it was a very nice place and she was very friendly. We just walked around and saw an exercise class going on. It just did not stand out to us as much as the other place we visited did.

They did have somebody at Cypress Woods 24 hours a day. The food was good. The people were great. However, it did not have a pool for my sister. I really like it there, but we could not afford it. The rooms were spacious and nice. The facility was a very clean place. They have church and all kinds of activities. The atmosphere was lovely, but one negative about it is that they didn’t have any grounds.

My mom is a current resident of Cypress Woods. It is a nice place. It is just that they have 91 people in capacity for 101, and my mom is not use to all the people. However, they feed them three times a day with all the full services, but sometimes it takes 45 minutes to 1 hours to have a meal. Depending on which end of the cafeteria you sit in, like if they serve the south end and I am in the north end, I will have to wait. She doesn't like that, but It is a beautiful place, and it is really nice.
They have bingo, horseracing, sewing clubs, and other groups that get together. My mother does that, but she is 90 years old, and she just doesn't get involved in many things like that. However, if I talk to some of the elderly people there sitting with my mom eating, they all tell me the same thing. They need a better system. They all complain why its taking so long to have their food and to allow them like the buffet idea where you have a little more variety.

My mother was in Cypress Woods for two months, and we chose it because of pricing and location. The staff were hard workers. She had a one-bedroom apartment, which was spacious and clean, but the décor was dated. The food was good. They allow smoking, but they didn't advise us that it was a smoking facility. They have six people there, and they are not equipped in case of a fire to evacuate people from the upper floors. I would not recommend them. I wouldn't go back.

We visited Cypress Woods. I liked it. The only problem here is they had long halls. When we went to visit one of their apartments, it was quite a walk for my husband. It was a nice place. With regards to the room, we were a little disappointed that there was no full kitchen and there was only a kitchenette.

I visited Cypress Woods, and it was good. I had some folks who gave it good references. The place was clean and beautiful. The facility looked like a good one for us. About the staff, the ones we met were very nice. The schedule was posted on the wall; they had celebrations and movies. Plus they had game room for folk who play cards and chess. The food was good. I have a limited diet, but they were able to take care of it. The people are very friendly and very attentive. The place was extremely clean and well decorated. The room is lovely and well cared for.

I am really happy with Cypress Woods. At first he wasn’t happy, but now he likes it there. It's an independent living facility, but they have a big dining area where he can go to and have his meals. We were just not interested in Cypress Woods. It was a very nice facility. I think they had a swimming pool, and the people were quite active there. They were very pricey also. I know someone who lived there that moved out because it costs too much money.

My mother is now at Cypress Woods. They have a regular sized shower that you would have a bathtub in, and it's like 4 or 5 ft. It's too long. And what I noticed in a lot of facilities that I visited was that the shower area was shorter, which is good. They're all handicapped accessible. And in the seat that they would sit on, your back was to the wall. But to me, it's a really important thing because one of the issues we've had with my mom is her concern that she's going to fall backwards, because she does have a tremor, and it causes her to lose her balance. And that's one of the things that I really like. That's a safety issue.
It's not old in any sense. But it's just a little bit older than some of the places we looked at. The food there varies. There is a fairly large staff turnover as well. The management has changed multiple times just in the last two years. It's constantly changing, which is a concern because I think it's difficult in any business to run it well if you're constantly changing your staff, whether that's at the bottom or at the top. That's one of my biggest concerns there, not keeping managers long enough.
I understand it's a difficult business.
I also I think that the organization can do a better job of choosing their chef. My mother has a lot of stomach issues, which a lot of elderly people do. A lot of times she just wants cottage cheese and fruit. And even though it's a retirement home, cottage cheese should be something you always have. You should also have jello on hand. They also have a lot of activities. That's something that they do extremely well. I think the activities that they have are probably the biggest draw, and the layout of the apartments I think is really good.

I like the whole thing about Cypress Woods. You got three meals a day whether you want to eat it or not. They have an outside bridge club that plays once a week. There is also a man that plays the piano. It's just wonderful. All the rooms were very spacious and like that each one of them has its own balcony. They also have an outside access from their own rooms and I like that idea. They also have a room that has a washer and dryer in it. They have someone to come in once a week and do general cleaning. I absolutely recommend this facility.

My husband and I live in Cypress Woods for over a year now. We want to stay here. A lady shared with us about it in Friendship Center. They bring 3 meals a day to our apartment or we could go to the dining room. The dining room is beautiful. The food is great. The service is fabulous. We never found anything to cry about. The other residents are happy. The management has a lot for them, parties for every holidays. They seem to have a good time. We enjoy it here.

Cypress Woods was nice, clean, and well kept. The people were very nice. I don't think the director was in at the time, but I talked to some of their residents and they all seemed really happy. The food was really good. The rooms need updating though, and they only had senior independent living, so once you needed additional care up to a certain point, then you have to move out of the property and go to a different facility.
