I visited Golden Palms. It was very good. They took the time on a Sunday because I happened to be there that weekend to give me a one-on-one tour of the entire facility. They're great at follow-up. They're very professional and very descriptive. The experience was very, very good. The staff during the tour was great at communication, professional and prompt. She's very resourceful in terms of her answers to all my questions. She was great. They had rooms of different sizes. This was a facility that does both independent living and assisted living and I got to see both sides. They probably had about 8 to 10 different floor plans, and I did get to see a good sample of those. Some of the rooms were more updated than others. They have a choice in terms of carpet versus floors. The appliances in the independent living (they don't allow them in assisted living as much) could be updated a little bit more, but everything looked clean and tidy. Maybe just some of the floor plans were a little bit more on the older side. I was pleased with the amenities. One of the biggest draws to me is that it seemed like they always had a lot of different things going on from outings to different themed events for holidays. They had game nights, and they had a vast array of a lot of different opportunities for people to get together, either as a group or smaller than a one-on-one. The calendar was very full in terms of things that people could do if they wanted to. They also have a pool and a trail around the facility that people can go on for walks. I like that aspect of it. It's not a luxurious place by any means. It's not a five-star resort type of place, but it's a wonderful facility. I was very pleased. The staff was great. They also have a rehab center and mom was there at the rehab center and she loved the food. I did get to see a menu and it looked like they had a lot of great choices. It wasn't just a fixed menu. They very much customize it based on special diets if you need that. That was pretty impressive. I wasn't in person when she was in rehab. I was there when she was in the hospital.

I chose Golden Palms Retirement Center and Healthcare mostly because the hospital and medical facilities are right next to each other. And also an LDS church is right on the property. It's an older building, it's got narrow hallways and not good lighting. But the rooms were excellent, they were nice. The dining room was also nice. The only person I met was the salesperson. They had all the normal activities that everybody else does. It looked a little shopworn. In terms of amenities, they have the standard ones that everybody else does; it's a pretty standard place. The value for the money is standard also; it's a dollar-for-dollar with everybody else. It's still expensive but it was alright. The place is like 30 years old. The outdoors is nice and exceptional.

My wife and I have been at the Golden Palms for years now. There are some improvements, some have remained status quo, and some have gotten worse. They are re-roofing the entire complex. Everything is so far tolerable, but the quality of the meals are not the same as they were when we moved in. They increased our rent $500 a month, but they're very open on what they're spending it on. It's convenient to the medical facilities and shopping. The entire community is very good. It's considered the place to be when it was in its prime 10 years ago. It was just allowed to suffer from inadequate management. It's clean, and the workmanship is still here. My wife's ring had gone down the drain and within a day they were up here to see if the ring could be found in the plumbing. They're very responsive, but they let a couple of knowledgeable workers go. All in all, it's working alright and they are trying. Just this week, we went from buffet service back to waitresses serving our meals at the table.

I really liked the Golden Palms Retirement Center and Healthcare. I enjoyed it. I had an excellent lunch. The rooms were really big and had really nice, big closets. It’s very well-kept,beautiful, and clean. They had arts and crafts, games, a lot of activities, and nice scenery around.

Golden Palms is very nice. They are more sophisticated and they have new buildings but everything is alike. It looks like two or three motel rooms put together. The accommodations are comparable with other places. The staff is very nice and the lady would bend over backwards to help you. They have security in every place and they’re run well.
