Assisted Living:

Canterfield offers the security of being cared for throughout the process of growing older by offering you a continuum of care that includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. A care continuum makes it possible for individuals or couples to choose from a variety of environments and services as their healthcare needs change over time. Because different care and housing options are available in the same residential setting, couples can continue to live together in light of their differing healthcare needs. This variety of options instills peace of mind where residents can experience optimal aging and have the security of being cared for throughout the process of growing older.

Memory Care:

At Canterfield, we are dedicated and focused on the needs of our residents with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Since there are numerous forms of memory loss, it’s important that we provide individualized services to meet the specific needs of each resident. A uniquely designed care program enables us to provide the right environment to better serve our residents and families. We also provide a full-time activities coordinator to offer one-on-one companionship and coordinate group activities. This personal approach is just what our residents need to receive compassion and support.

Canterfield of Oak Ridge was very nice. They decorated it for Christmas at the time. We saw the ground floor where the meals were served. There's an elevator and we went up to the second floor to see one of the rooms and they were very nice. They have a really neat movie room where people can have movie nights on a big screen (that was cool!) They also exercise and have pedicures and manicures. All the rooms had microwaves, but three meals a day were served.

Canterfield of Oak Ridge was a very upscale place, well kept up, and had great staff. It's relatively new, and there's lots of activities going on. I was there at a very active time of the day, and they were bringing people in from a nice picnic. This was early spring when the weather was pretty, and they seemed to have a great time. They had a great activities director, and there's a lot going on. Of all the places I saw, this was the place with the most activity. They had bingo, other games, and a craft room. If you wanted to watch a demonstration of square dance or something, they offered that kind of thing too. Some of the residents would come and go in their own cars. It's three stories and three levels of apartments with elevators of course. It's probably one of the newer ones because you can see that it's got new decor that looks really nice. They have this 'age in place' situation where as people get older, they can have more help and move into more services.
