We've had a good experience with Cascades Verdae. I think they have lots of very nice environments and lots of activities available. Mom's apartment in the independent living was very nice. The staff are pretty well trained in COVID. They've had a hard time keeping staff levels up, but they've done a good job. The dining area is also very nice. They have bridge games, a movie theater, a pool, a hair salon, a gym, a health and wellness program, and field trips.
The outdoor spaces are well done. They've got a nature path and a community garden. So, they have a big green space, and there's different places you can get outside and talk. They have some outside festivals and dinners, too.

When I realized the time had come that I needed more personal assistance, security, companionship and less dependence on my family, we investigated senior living communities available. When my family and I visited the Cascades-Verdae Greenville SC , we knew we had found the right place for me to have a home that offered everything that I valued. I have a lovely, roomy apartment in a park-like setting with big trees, flowers, shrubs, fountains, paved walking path, and inviting benches for resting and visiting. New friends are made easily. Delicious, nutritious meals are served at tables in a sociable setting with friends. Activities include popular games, nearby excursions, wellness activities, recent movies in a theatre, celebration of special events, clubs of your choice, informative programs, shopping trips and much more. Believe me, it is similar to being on a cruise, except you are not traveling. The staff feels like family. They are caring, involved with your interests, fulfill your needs and most of all want residents to be comfortable, at peace and happy. I have lived at Cascades-Verdae since March 2022 and feel blessed.

I've lived in Cascades Verdae, and it was very good. I was happy there; the only reason I left was because it's too far from my son's place. I would recommend them. It was a very excellent place to live. The staff members were courteous and efficient. They had a regular fitness program, a complete workout place, and a swimming pool. It was a warm, saltwater pool, and it was for anyone who wanted to maintain their fitness. They had exercise programs with music playing to keep your beat. It was excellent, other than I want to be close to my family. The value for the money is completely adequate.

The lady who took us on the tour at Cascades Verdae was very nice. Her name was Jenny. We were there for about two hours, and she showed us everything. The facility was wonderful. There's a living area, a small dining area, a swimming pool, an equipment room for exercise, a pub, a café, and the main dining room. The apartment we saw was a two-bedroom. It has a kitchen in it, and they were designed more like a hotel. Everybody was wearing their masks, and everything was very clean. The problem was they had a five-year waiting list to get one of the cottages, and we really don't want to wait five years to move into a place. We wanted an independent home where you can age in place and go from the independent home into the nursing home if you need. We can't keep our puppy dog in Cascades Verdae either.

Cascades Verdae was very fancy, and it looked to be very, very high end. Some of the residents I noticed looked like they were very wealthy; they catered to a wealthy clientele. We were given an overview of the whole facility, and they showed us a lot of the amenities that they offer. The value for the price was pretty much all inclusive except for cell-phone coverage, but every other utility was taken care of in the building, and maintenance was all taken care of. They didn't have cottages, and the parking lot was not covered parking. The apartments looked well built, with very good construction and details, and the campus was beautiful. They have a common room for activities, a movie theater, an indoor heated pool, an exercise room, and restaurant-style dining with a food allowance. The staff who showed us around was very helpful, very informative, very outgoing, and willing to help our needs. Meeting our needs seemed to be more important than making the sale, and I appreciated that a lot. She was very informative as far as telling us about some other communities in the area that might be a better fit for us. I appreciated that a lot. Even though we went there for a basic overview, she provided us more information to help us meet our needs than to meet the company's needs.

I have lived in a villa since March 2018 and have never regretted my move. Cascades is a wonderful place to live with all it's beauty and interesting residents and caring staff. I quickly felt right at home!!
Life has certainly changed in our community since the pandemic. However, the staff has worked very hard to establish the protocol that keeps us safe. The staff also provides us with many activities--with social distancing, of course, --to keep us active!!
I feel so very blessed to live here!!!

I tell people who ask me where I live, I tell them I live on a cruise ship in dry dock. It's even better than a cruise. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I use the amenities and take advantage of many things they offer. Living here for the past 6 years has been a great experience.

In our early seventies my wife and I systematically explored the southeast USA touring and inspecting close to 20 CCRC's. Our parents before us had done the same for themselves and we watched them enjoy this lifestyle thoroughly. We settled on two favorites: one in Greenville, SC and one in Jacksoville, FL. We finally chose Cascades Verdae because it was such a beautiful "high-end" community, located in the middle of nice shopping, grocery stores, medical office parks, good churches, and so convenient to our needs. Another big deciding factor was proximity to our children and grandchildren. This is our twelfth year as residents and we have made many friends, are so impressed with the wealth of fun activities, and love our friendly, responsive Cascades staff.

Aleksandra does a fantastic job to in leading our outside exercises every morning; now down to twice a week after the careful opening of inside activities.
We also must give the same rating of "exceed expectations" to Ed Smith

My father moved into the Cascades Verdae. It's nice, the staff is competent and caring, and the apartments are spacious, very nice, and the best of everything we've seen. The food is very good, and the dining room is lovely. It seems to be full of vibrancy and good energy. They have a full calendar of events and activities, as well as fitness.

Living at Cascades has been a great experience. The food is great especially because you don't have to cook it! After participating in the PT program, my life has improved. They are very friendly and capable of helping the other residents and those who need it. I have seen positive change from participating in.

Jenny Joyce did a great job of introducing us to the process! We toured a cottage and then decided on an apartment. Rusty did an amazing job getting us moved in seamlessly. The transition from a house to an apartment was not as difficult as we anticipated. Ed does an amazing job, provides a variety of activities. We are able to interact with other residents well, the new member dinner was a great first interaction. The food has met our expectations. The overall experience has exceeded our expectations!!

Moving from New Jersey I needed a place in South Carolina to be my new home. I'm so grateful to my daughter and granddaughter for finding Cascades. It is a beautiful place where their employees in every department do all they can to please you. I've felt blessed to live here with so many interesting people for the last five-plus years.

My wife and I moved to Cascades Verdae in May 2013, and have loved living here since then. We had checked out several other similar facilities, but had no trouble on deciding on it. Every other place had similar programs and activities, but the thing that really sold us was the cleanliness of the property, and the beautifully decorated homes, apartments and dining areas. The apartment hallways were wide, well lit, and clean. Secondly we liked the food plan where we were able to carry forward indefinitely any unused portion of our food allowance. The trail around the perimeter, which we make use of daily, makes us feel that we are never too far away from nature. Its proximity to I-85 was a slight concern in the beginning, but we are not at all bothered by the noise from it. In fact, after having lived in the country for several years, it was great to have shops so conveniently located. On a nice day we can actually walk to Target and Home Depot less than a mile away. The only negative is that, due to its popularity, management is expanding the residential facilities rather rapidly, without paying enough attention to enlarging the common facilities such as parking space and the size of the ballroom, which is also used as the auditorium.

I have a sister that lives in Greenville and my mother was in a CCRC in Marietta, Ga. We moved her to the rehab here. When she got out of rehab, we moved her to assisted living. I have been her caregiver and decided it was best I follow a month later. I moved here in May 2011. The deciding factor was that my sister had researched the Cascades for her husband's father and had done all the research and knew all the people. Ultimately it was being close to my mother and sister that brought me to Cascades.
I enjoy the Wellness Program which includes land and water activities. I am into land activities which include Aerobics, Zumba, Chair Core, Strong Legs and CLIMB. The Wellness Director has a program for every part of the body. Normally I get up at 7 am and have a continental breakfast in the Bistro. I then do my wellness activities in the morning. After lunch I may play bridge or rumikub. We may have an excursion to a activity away from the Cascades. Transportation is key it allows us freedom to explore Greenville. We also able to be part of the Greenville Community such as Little Theater, The Peace Center, and other local cultural events. Once a month we enjoy trying new local restaurants. I love the place. In fact, I termed the Cascades as a resort in alumni directory.
When making the decision on where to retire, explore your options. But most importantly, don't wait until health considerations become the deciding factor. Move when you can still enjoy the amenities and be active. The main thing here is interacting with people. And the people here by and large are very, very friendly.

Location was the biggest attraction with family in town. We looked at another retirement community. It was too far out of town, did not have on-site wellness, and did not have a pool. They did have continued learning through Furman University. We drive ourselves and participate in Furman's OLLI program now once a week. Cascades was more affordable. Comparable places in California where we also have family were almost double the price. We like the quality of interaction with the Lifestyle Advisors. They were very patient and helped accommodate our considerations. They waited for us to sell our house. We did not feel a lot of pressure. We had a number of modifications that we wanted done with the apartment and they helped facilitate such as shelving in the closet. They have found a way to do anything we ask for. They are very responsive. They allowed our daughter-in-law to decorate the apartment. We moved across country without furniture and walked into a turn-key villa. We liked location in Greenville. It is not in the middle of downtown which would have made getting around difficult but it is within 10 minutes of downtown. Minor medical care is right across the street. Any shopping you could want is nearby.
We do it all. Monday I play party bridge. Tuesday we go to Furman all day. Wednesday we play Gin Rummy, Thursday we discuss current events and attend technology classes. I do wellness. You have easy access to the Peace Center- they drive us. We belong to the foreign film club and book club. The quality of the people who are here is very attractive. We made a lot of friends really quickly. We don't travel as much- there isn't as much incentive. We were gone for 3 weeks and couldn't wait to get back. It would be hard to think of some very negative stuff. What is not to like? One of the most important thing about the communities is the dining. Making a move into a facility that offers independent living and other care services is an easy thing to do. The US is full of them. Finding the place is not the problem. Making the decision of when to go is the problem. Everybody agrees they did it too late. We probably should have done this 5 years ago. Nobody can make that decision for you. A lot of people come when they can no longer take care of the house.

I liked the Cascades because it was beautiful and close to all the amenities. It was also close to our family. I had heard so many good things about it. We started looking at different homes. We fell in love with Cascades. We didn't move in right away. We took a long time to decide to move in. We kept coming back because we were invited to special things out here including dinners and special occasions. After 6 years, we finally decided to move in here. The ultimate deciding factor was that we decided it was time to figure out how we wanted to spend our later years. The Cascades was close to our children, friends and our community.
My favorite amenity is the wellness. Since I have just had major surgery, I have been involved with the rehabilitation, which I found to be great. I haven't gotten to get involved with a lot of the wellness and machines, but I am looking forward to getting involved full time.
We like that there is always something to do- whether it is a movie, concert, trip, etc. When you travel, you know that your home will be safely waiting for you. My life has changed because we are here and happy and everything is really done for us. It is almost like being on vacation all the time.

We spent six years thinking about going into a retirement community. We had lived for 31 years at our previous home. We came for 6 years of Lunch and Learns and then decided 14 months ago to make the move to Cascades.
About 6 or 7 years prior to moving we decided we liked Cascades better than a local competitor. We came to these Lunch and Learns for 6 years and then decided it was time. We decided this was the best in town as far as a retirement community and came on in.
I like the wellness area. I like the great instructions that analyze your total health and give you a program that works for you. You can workout as much or as little as you like. We enjoy the ballroom and all that goes on there. There are many events and concerts. We thought the cost was fair with all that goes on here. In fact with everything here, we get more value than expected. We have made a lot of friends. We have been here 14 months and are slowly getting into more activities. The people who work here are good people and talented. The dining has good chefs.

My husband and I came to The Cascades partly due to his health issues which forced us to leave our 2-story colonial house in the New York suburbs. We have a son and family who live in this area and we came to look at a community which would be accessible to my husband in a wheelchair and offer activities and a nice lifestyle. We found the Cascades to be more than perfect in fitting those criteria. We have enjoyed meeting the various people- interesting, friendly, outstanding new friends. There are many activities, I like to think something for all interests. One can be busy all day everyday if one chooses to do so. I participate in the wellness program, the chorus, a couple of resident committees, and the many social events. I enjoy the concerts which are brought in here on a regular basis, movies in our own theater, and adventures outside organized by the Cascades staff such as hikes and visits to museums. The support from the new friends here is outstanding.

Time was running out for us. Friends said come see ,come see and we did. It is a beautiful place and wonderful town of Greenville. We love the fact that our son is so close by. They are friendly, friendly people. The staff is always so accommodating. For my husband, Cascades was a new life. He became involved and I don’t think he is ever going to quit. We both love the setting, the wellness program, the trail, and the activities such as the chorus, bridge, and the various musical programs brought in for entertainment. We also feel the need to reach out to others who are less fortunate than we are. So thank you Cascades.

My granddaughter introduced me to this community 3 years ago when I was visiting from Va. The activities, the people, the ambiance and everything, just seemed to click. My daughter’s family lived here at the time. Unfortunately they have moved to France. This forced me to get involved immediately as this would be my lifestyle. As a result, I have thoroughly enjoyed my almost 6 months here. My fellow residents are extremely friendly and helpful. The activities are varied and most anything you like to do is available. There are many social events which help us to get involved with other people and make friends. The activities are cultural and educational as well as the physical activities to keep you going.
