My partner and I moved into NW Place because we loved the neighborhood and we wanted independent living with a dining room and activities. We were willing to pay more in order to have these amenities. Our unit is fine and we have settled in. The local staff people are wonderful, but we learned that they can only obey SRG corporate... in California. Since Covid hit, SRG keeps changing rules, and issuing edicts without compensating the residents. The closures of the dining room and the cancellation of activities don't make sense. These actions are taken without any logic and without any input from the residents. Although we are all wearing masks, activities are limited to 6 people and we are socially distanced in the dining room, corporate SRG keeps removing amenities. This is occurring even when there are no known cases of Covid in the building. There is no one to complain to who can do anything because the local personnel are just taking orders from SRG corporate. I will never recommend an SRG "INDEPENDENT LIVING" facility to anyone. Beware! It really is not independent living. My rating is based on food delivered in cardboard boxes to our rooms, activities canceled, and the staff of SRG corporate (whoever they are) who make decisions with no input from residents of this independent living facility.

The food, the staff, and the overall appearance of Northwest Place was good. I saw a small but nice two-bedroom, two bathroom apartment. If they had more care then it would be nicer, but it’s independent living and not assisted living.

We have lived here for 5 1/2 years now. And for us it only gets better. We were both 63 when we moved here from San Diego Ca. It's a small facility right in the middle everything. Public transportation is a block away and restaurants are a short walk. This is a beautiful area. We moved in at 63 because why wait. We did not move in holding our grown children checking it out. No Thank You. Plus we wanted to be well when we came here and not needing assistance in anyway. We wanted to live in place until such time as we needed assistance. We already have chosen the next PLACE when that time comes. Unfortunately children don't have the courage to tell Mom and Dad they need more care and should look for assistance. Don't be afraid to start looking on your own sooner then later. Don't put your family on the line. This is your decision. Northwest PLACE is wonderful place to live. If you have special needs check everywhere you look. Just remember these are COMUNITIES . Things are done for all not just the constant complainer. Go into these places with your eye's wide open along with your heart.

We are very impressed with Northwest Place, and it has been only two weeks since we are here. The people, the staff, and the entire environment we really like it very well. We are happy with the food. All the things that are important, we are having here. I would definitely recommend this facility.

This is a sister facility to SpringRidge at Charbonneau, also owned by owned Senior Resource Group (SRG), which is known to be a good management company that puts lots of effort into maintaining the facilities and hiring good staff. The facility was originally built for toney church members, but was sold to SRG about 10 years ago. It is a beautiful place, located in a charming neighborhood in northwest Portland, with large Victorian mansions, boutiques, coffee shops, bistros and a library nearby, within walking distance. A drawback is limited parking, since it's a congested area, so residents with cars may find that difficult. It's very secure"”with a keypad and staff who makes sure they know who is coming and going. It's all independent living"”about 60 apartments, with good-sized kitchens, nice sitting rooms and high ceilings. There is definition between the living room and bedroom, which is a nice touch. There is a lovely large outdoor terrace where people sit outside and also can do gardening in elevated beds if so inclined. Inside is a nice sitting area and library"”and a beautiful dining set with linens and nice tableware. The food is good, and there is a wide variety of choices daily. The staff is very service-oriented and very attentive to the residents. But residents who need more care than is generally available in assisted living must hire private caregivers. Also, because it's considered independent living, there are not a lot of planned activities offered, but lots of family members visit"”and the residents themselves have organized clubs for gardening and books and such. NorthWest Place is a beautiful little gem of a place, with an ideal location, especially for those with family members who live nearby. It would be best for those who want to enjoy the area and are fairly independent. The worst fit would be someone with high needs or memory care issues. The cost runs between $4,000 and $5,000 monthly, depending on the size of the room.
