I moved into Pacifica Senior Living Calaroga Terrace 2nd of January. The staff is very caring, attentive, and has a special feeling for seniors. They go out of their way to do extra things. For example, I had a clogged toilet, so they sent somebody up to unclog the toilet, which is probably not in their job description. I love the views here and it's right downtown, so we've got magnificent views of the city, the mountains, and the river. I couldn't be happier. The food is adequate, but not great. I prefer to prepare my own food. I have a 2-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen. They post the activities every day, but I have not attended any yet.

What was appealing about Pacifica Senior Living Calaroga Terrace was they are all-inclusive, end to end, and the ease of transition between individual and assisted care. The staff was so friendly and so helpful. The food looked good. The common areas were very, very nice. The rooms could use a little updating, but the location and the value of what you're getting, it seemed outstanding.

I moved into Pacifica Senior Living Calaroga Terrace. The overall experience is fair. I don't like their television because it's DirectTV. I'm not at all happy with the food. We have the second chef now. We don't want a fancy chef. We want good home-cooking food. It's not a bad-looking place. It's, in fact, very nice. It was built as a home for priests when it was first built. It is an older building, and they have some troubles there, like the elevator will be out of service or the air conditioning doesn't work. But I can put up with that part as long as the food and the TV are good. I have a one-bedroom, and it's a very beautiful apartment. I got two balconies, one from the bedroom and one from the living room. I'm on the end corner, so I get a north view. I love the apartment. The staff members are very good. The value is very good because it's one of the cheapest.

I moved in a few weeks ago. In this time, the air conditioning stopped working during a heat wave (it is repaired now), the cable does not work even though direct TV supposedly repaired it, the internet connection is spotty, and to stop it off today there is no hot water.

I love the apartments at the Pacifica Senior Living Calaroga Terrace. It's slightly down at the hills and a mid-century luxury hotel. They're wonderful. The facilities are kind of aging. They have all kinds of things. They have a thrift store and a little grocery store where they keep things that the residents want. They keep an attended sort of post office. There's a lovely little chapel. They are also resident-directed in their activities.

I toured Pacifica Senior Living Calaroga Terrace, and I love it. They were very expensive though, and they didn't include parking. In that area, you need parking because you can't just park on the streets. They were high rise with beautiful scenery in some of the apartments. I find it a little dark in the hallways though, but the apartments themselves are beautiful. The hallways were kind of dark and dank. The lobby was beautiful, and the activities was buzzing all the time. There were a lot of people coming and going. A lot of seniors were reading their papers and drinking coffee downstairs. It was nice, but they were very expensive. You get an amazing view from up there. You can see city skies on one side, and the mountains on the other side. It's gorgeous. The staff were very friendly.

I am an independent living resident here at Calaroga terrace. I have a lovely apartment that is probably nicer than any other apartment available here in Portland. Couple that with our wonderful housekeeping staff (my favorite perk!), bus trips to Fred Meyer and the dollar store, our library with tons of books and DVD’s, room service if we need it and of course a lovely mid century modern dining room and outdoor terrace with roses and dogwood trees (like the ones I climbed when I was a kid!) Public transit (Max, bus and trolley) is within 2 blocks and if you have a dog, which a lot of us do, you will love our very pleasant, walkable neighborhood. We have a chapel, a grocery store, a mailroom, a grand piano and a new executive director who keeps the gears running smoothly. When you live at Calaroga you will be respected and feel cared for and if you have a problem or a concern or just need someone to talk to our Director’s door is always open to everyone. I’ve made lifelong friends here and it’s so much fun playing bingo and blackjack together and watching in-house movies. My new best friend and I head to the dining room as often as possible for a relaxing meal. BTW, my apartment has a view of Mt Hood, Mt Adam’s AND Mt St Helen’s from my own personal balcony. What a way to live!!

Pacifica Senior Living Calaroga Terrace was absolutely awesome. The person who took me on a tour showed me around. She showed me several different options, e.g. apartment areas. She showed me the entire place which was absolutely awesome. I would love to be able to get in there. She also introduced me to the director, which was absolutely wonderful. They were awesome. The place was beautiful, too.

A prime consideration in choosing Senior Independent Living at Calaroga Terrace was its central location and easy access to Portland's great Public Transit System(Street Car, MAX train and Bus). But more importantly I made the choice because of Calaroga's reputation of providing a supportive community environment including a dedicated and professional staff. Oh yes, and I do enjoy a panoramic view of the city from my apartment and balcony. Duane

I toured Pacifica Senior Living Calaroga and had a really nice conversation with the lady. She paid for lunch for me and connected me with a resident. They allow pets on some of the floors. The meal was great and was like a banquet. I was impressed. I saw their calendar of activities. Sometimes people go to a nearby restaurant to eat, and there was a really nice fitness room which I was interested in, but nobody was in there. The room that they would have for me was really small, and that worried me. The staff member who toured me around was really great, knew the residents by name, and made it really warm.

Calaroga Terrace (Pacifica Senior Living Calaroga Terrace) was very nice. The person who visited with us was very nice, very enthusiastic, and very friendly. It had definitely more of an urban feel, but it was not the type of place my mother would be comfortable in. The rooms were small, and I don't think any of them had a stove nor a hotplate or a burner. You definitely have to rely on going to the dining room for your meals.

Pacifica Senior Living Calaroga Terrace had a quirky floor plan, but otherwise, the rooms were nice. They had a library, and the staff was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and sociable. The dining area looked pretty good, and the food offerings were generous and convenient. The menu also looked pretty good.

They are doing some renovation at Pacifica Senior Living Calaroga Terrace, especially on the outside of the building, so it looks like a construction zone. Naomi, who is somewhat new, took us around. She was very nice and very capable. The apartments were very nice, and some had nice views of the city. It was a beautiful facility, but for us, it was too large. My husband has very limited mobility and because he uses a walker, he doesn't like to walk long distances. He would have a hard time getting from place to place. However, the apartments were beautiful and some of them were newly renovated, so they looked new and very nice.

Mom stayed at Pacifica for three days. I couldn't rate them higher. The paperwork went very smoothly and the nurse was at our home within like two or three days to give Mom an evaluation. They were welcoming. Everyone was very kind. The place was immaculate. They have six or seven cottages with 14 patients in each cottage and then they have staff there to take care of those folks. The staff was great. I felt comfortable with the program that they have there for caring. Mom was as happy as she could be while she was there. I would recommend them very highly. My mother came home clean and fresh. Overall, I thought it's a wonderful place. I wish I could do that for my mother but financially it's just not in the card, but it's wonderful for respite. It is so reasonable; they don't cost as much as a downtown hotel room. I am pleased to leave my mother in their care for a short period of time.

We have placed our uncle into Calaroga Terrace. This is our choice because it was a month-to-month and because of its location. As a whole, the facility is okay. It suits my uncle's needs. My uncle is blind and sometimes people would help him out. They seem to know him. Sometimes they would tell him that there are events that are happening. However, I think they need a better activity coordinator. Because my uncle is unable to read their bulletins, he is not made aware of events that he can participate. Nevertheless, it's going okay and they're doing a good job.
