We went and toured Chapel Hill Community. The staff members were very informative and very helpful, and they seemed very kind. We toured one of the condos that they have on campus. They are all one level handicapped accessible units. There are two-bedroom-two bathrooms. They're over 1300 square feet, and they're beautiful. They have cathedral ceilings, and it's all updated. The kitchens are nice and roomy. They have an attached one-and-a-half car garage. They provide two hours of housekeeping a week. It includes landscaping and snow removal. It includes one lunch a day, too. They were very reasonably priced for what amenities you receive. There's a nice clubhouse that you go to for lunches and activities. You could also reserve a room there for parties if you wanted to have friends or family over for a holiday, so that was very nice. They allow residents to have golf carts, so if they want to zip over to the clubhouse and not walk that day, that would be very convenient. The property that the facility is on is beautiful. There's a huge lake and residents can fish if they want. There are walking trails throughout the property. It's very pretty. The common dining area was in the clubhouse. It looked like a lodge, so it was very homey. It felt like you were on vacation when you went in there. They have a soup and salad bar, and you could get a hamburger and French fries there, too. The staff said that a lot of people just eat the soup and salad and box up the hot meal to take home and eat for dinner. For activities, they had a prayer group going on when we walked in there. They have game night and arts and crafts day. They said that people can do board games, card games, or anything they choose. A Girl Scout group will come and entertain them, too. They get involved with the community. They have outings. They could go to a restaurant or into town. They also have a yoga hour. So there are a lot of activities there.

We loved Chapel Hill Community, but they had no opening. They said you can be put on a waiting list, but there are quite a few ahead of you. The independent living is wonderful, they've got an apartment that's just like home. You've got your own garage, and it's just very, very nice. My friend was very impressed with it and would have taken it in a heartbeat but there was no vacancy. The place was very nice and the independent living houses are beautiful. The staff that we met was very nice. The gentleman that we worked with was very talkative, very upfront, very polite, very cordial, and very helpful. Only one meal a day is included, so lunch is provided. The place is clean and nice, a little dated but I'm sure it would meet the needs of the people that are there.
