My friend is at The Bristal at White Plains. She has a lovely one-bedroom, she has a little living room, her quarters are quite nice, and she's very happy with them. Now they're starting to let them go to the movies, so you make a reservation and ten people can go. She is in the independent living, but she does get help because she needs it sometimes. Also, she has hired one of the aides who works there four days a week, and she has her for two hours after she has finished with her shift. Sometimes they just sit and talk, so she has this aide she likes, so that's good for her. They have a library, a movie theater, and a hair salon, but she only comes in once a week and is not there all the time. I really didn't meet any staff because when I was there it was always in the afternoon, and we were either taking my friend out for lunch or just visiting with her outside when the weather was still good. They change staff, and they're short-staffed a lot of the time because people don't show up, but the facility is lovely, and they have just renovated it, so they've put in all-new carpeting and new paintings, and she said it's very nice.

The Bristal at White Plains is a very nice place, and we were very impressed, but it was very pricey. The staff was lovely, nice, and followed up. The rooms are beautiful, people furnish them themselves, they're very well-kept, and they are just the right size for one person. The place is very comfortable, it looked like had a lot of different activities and different levels of care. The facility is easy to access, but there aren't a lot of grounds.

We chose The Bristal for our uncle. The facility and staff impresses me. He is in a studio, and although it would be ideal to have a bigger apartment, it is mostly studios. I saw the food and thought it looked quite good. A lot is offered recreationally, though my uncle does not take full advantage. They certainly do have an excellent department and services.
