I live The Hearth on James. They have an excellent kitchen staff. Their food is the best. They have excellent food and enough food. They check on you every day to see how we are, especially with that COVID situation. They check on us to see if we are alright. All of us in here have had our two COVID shots.
I'm in a studio apartment. When you're coming off the hall, the first thing is a kitchen, which has a refrigerator, a microwave, upper and lower cabinets, and an electric stove. To the left is a bathroom with all the safety bars and the safety cords to pull, and it's a walk-in shower. Towards the end, it's an open area, in which I have two of those portable closets, so it looks like my place has a bedroom. There's the window facing the street. It's two windows, side by side. Underneath is an air conditioner. We have access to cable if we want, we have a few channels, and we also get the Internet. They have a variety of rooms based on what you can afford. They have one bedrooms, two bedrooms, and studios.
They have trips to restaurants, and they go to different places. During the winter, they have a place called The Lights on the Lake, and we go there. They have all kinds of activities. They have performers come here like singers and things like that. They have a calendar that comes up that shows you activities, and they take the residents on Friday to the grocery store. This place provides you with transportation to doctor's appointments or whatever they are.

The tour at The Hearth on James was excellent. They gave me lunch so I could see what the food was like. I ate with the girl that showed me around. I liked it very much because it was not as big as some of the other places. The apartments are very nice; I could live in one easily, especially if I were alone. They had a small room for exercising, a library, a garden, and outdoor seating. My brother is not doing any walking away from his property, but if he wanted to go sit outside, he could do that. I like that place a lot. I found the staff members very friendly. The girl who waited on tables was very gracious. The other thing I like about this place is that they serve lunch. The food was good and the service was good, but the food had cooled down a little bit.

My mother moved into The Hearth, and the experience has been excellent. She entered assisted living, then moved to independent. She takes advantage of all the programs, so there's a big improvement. She's in a spacious one-bedroom with a kitchenette, space for dining table and chairs, living room, and an average-sized bedroom. The bathroom is very spacious and closet space is ample. It has been very good for us.

We went to the Hearth, and it seemed clean and well-maintained. The lady there was extremely nice; she talked to the other people that we met by names. However, they didn’t have anything bigger than a one-bedroom, and the place was in an urban setting. The prices were better for what you got.
