Pacifica Senior Living San Martin was great. It was a beautiful building, and it's in a very nice, quiet area. Even though it's next to a hospital, it's still very quiet. I visited three times. Two times to tour, and one time just to double-check something. Cheryl was the person who toured with us and she was lovely. She just showed us everything. I felt comfortable talking to her, so she had some idea of what my mother would need. I gave her some idea of my mother's personality to see if that would be a good fit there. She showed us several different options for living, from the low end to the high end. As far as affordability, it was nice to see the different options.
The place had tons of amenities. It's perfect for senior living. It's beautifully landscaped. I loved the design of the place. It lends itself to being social. If somebody is lonely in this place, it's their choice because there's just so much to do and to see and lots of people around. We went during the holiday, so it was decorated beautifully for Christmas. It's very festive and just a really pretty place. My husband and I were joking and we said when we get to this time in our lives, we wouldn't mind going there ourselves.
I didn't taste the food, but it looked nice. What I liked about it was the fact that the kitchen staff was willing to work with the residents. I liked the fact that the residents were given options just like a restaurant. If you were craving something special and you didn't see it on the menu, the kitchen (from what I was told) would do what they could to make sure that you got what you wanted. Whatever you were wanting, they would try to make it for you.
The women were dressed, walking around, and had a little bit of makeup. They weren't sitting in a wheelchair with their head held down with no makeup, no hair done, and just existing. Even though they were using walkers, maybe even wheelchairs, everybody seemed very happy and active. It was a little bit more social. There's a little bit more chatter going on. Not everybody was sitting alone. They had tables with people sitting together. It was nice, but it was pricy and that was a dealbreaker.

Pacifica Senior Living San Martin was incredible, and I wish my parents were open to moving there. It was wonderful. It would have been a beautiful place for my mother to stay and live out her life after my father passes, but they did not want to move out of their home yet. The staff was great. Shannon, who showed us around, was friendly. I would live in there if I could. The apartments were nice and some of the ones we've visited were not so nice with the painting and the carpeting and stuff, but this one was very, very nice. The carpeting was nice, the painting, the cabinets, and all of the interior look of the apartments and the layout were really nice. The dining room was beautiful. The place was clean. They had a beauty salon, movie room, they do games, and they have puzzles sitting out that people just come over and participate in for as long as they want. It was a beautiful place. The hospital was right across the parking lot. For me that was a great location. It had lots of things around it.
