I toured Reserve at Mills Farm. It was the first one I saw, and I was like, 'OK, it looked nice,' but I don't know if it's good or not. The staff were very friendly. They seemed to be familiar with things. The apartments they showed me seemed to be very clean, up to date, and new. They had an athletic room, it didn't seem that big, but it had some equipment. They have spaces for people to be able to play different cards or something like that. They have a library. There is a beauty salon, but it wasn't open. I think it only opens on certain days in a week or something, and I was there on a Saturday.

Reserve at Mills Farm is fairly new. It's only two years old. We liked it because it had all three levels. Even if you're in independent living or assisted living, everybody kind of congregates all together. They keep the memory unit separated out, but the assisted living and independent living people can all converse together.
The independent living is like living in an apartment, however they still check on you every day to make sure that you haven't fallen. They have safety features in each room, like a pull cord. The apartments have a very, very, very nice set up. It comes with the washer and dryer. A lot of the utilities are included, too, which we liked. Another good thing is that they have a pharmacy right there on-site. We're going to talk to the pharmacist, and they said that they're going to fill all of my dad's drugs. They will put them in these 8 by 11 sheets and color code them.
They have a hair salon and all kinds of activities. It's more on the high end, but we feel like we're making the right choice. The staff was very thorough and very nice. They have been very accommodating. Every time we text Lynn (the director) to ask her questions, she answers immediately. She's been great so far. They have 24-hour security, a shuttle service, and a huge cool movie theater. There's also a lot of males that are there right now.

My mother will be moving into Reserve at Mills Farm. We already moved her furniture in and we're waiting for her to get released from rehab. It's just two years old, so it's new. We liked the layout. The people, the staff, and everybody are very friendly and courteous. She had a first-floor unit with access out to her porch, so she can walk the dog. It made it a lot more convenient. The outdoor was very nice, and it had a patio. They offer theater, food, games, transportation within 10 miles free of charge, and internet. They have a lot of amenities there.

I went to the Reserve at Mills Farm yesterday. It's a very nice, clean facility, the staff is warm and friendly. The workout center is well equipped and the surroundings are very nice looking, there are trees and so forth. It's nice because it's an age in place type facility, independent living, assisted living, and then the memory care facility. I discovered that they have activity coordinators at all three sections, so it's not one activities coordinator, which I think is good because they can kind of specialize in their own area. Those three different categories have three different needs. The dining facility looked very nice. I think there are at least two public dining facilities and at least one private dining facility so that if you had a family get-together, you could utilize the private dining space. I cannot comment on the costs, that was one of the factors that were not immediately available yesterday, and I cannot comment on the rooms themselves or what's available there. I think there are about 75 to 80 percent filled right now, which means there's still about a 20 percent open capacity. As I mentioned, it's a relatively new facility, so they're still accepting residents. I think the town itself, Apex, is a nice town within North Carolina.

We visited The Reserve at Mills Farm. It was very good. They've got everything that everybody else has, an art room, theater, and they've got a putting green. They've got a dog park, and they're right next door to Apex County Park. It's nice. The person we dealt with was someone named Kim; she was very helpful and very patient with us as far as showing us around. We went over there several times. We took our daughters, they wanted to see it.
It's brand new and has only been open about a year or not quite a year yet. That's why we're on the waiting list for so long. They do have some 1-bedroom and studio units available. The dining area is very clean, neat, and very nice. We're on the waiting list for a 2-bedroom, 2-bath, and a garage.
One of the reasons we wanted to go there was the Apex Park next door. We have grandchildren and they would enjoy going to the park. There's a big lake, boating, and fishing right next door to The Reserve; places to go walking and things like that.
