We toured Friendship Village Sunset Hills. The price is probably out of our reach because it's so expensive and you have to buy in like a couple hundred thousand dollars. We didn't see apartments; we just got an overall view. We walked around the common areas and the restaurants. They have a library and a sewing room. We were impressed by most of that. If we follow up, we were going to see an apartment on the next visit. However, everything was immaculate.
We didn't meet a lot of staff. We met the woman who gave us the tour, and some residents walked by and exchanged pleasantries with us, but there wasn't a lot of interaction. The person was very professional. We walked around outside, and it was gorgeous. They have villas, garages, a basement, and everything, and that's what we were interested in. We like all the workout areas. They have a sewing room with lots of long tables and stuff where I could continue to take my stuff and quilt. So that impressed me, of course. Also, they have a path you can walk, and it's like a mile path.

Friendship Village Sunset Hills was the most expensive of the places we toured. It's a beautiful place. It's a large complex, I think it's 52 acres. They have villa homes and then the regular apartments that you have to put in like $200,000 or something to get into it. Then they have a maintenance fee of like about $3,200 to $3,600 a month you have to pay, and that's for the upkeep, for your meals and all that. It's a big expense to stay there. I think she only showed us one room that was empty, and that was like the one-bedroom apartment style, and it did have a balcony. If you wanted one with a better view, then that was like about $200 more a month. They have everything there. The staff went into the financial part right away, and we got confused with all the plans. It's sort of like a country club or something, you get the impression of that. There's the swimming pool and they have all kinds of activities. They have the vans that take you out, there's a library, and a theater room.

Friendship Village Sunset Hills was a luxurious senior living facility that had all the amenities and different types of dining options. It was very large. I believe they had 300 apartments and everyone was very pleasant and a very welcoming kind of place.
I know someone who lives there, so I know a lot about the amenities before I went there. They do exercises in the pool, they have a huge library, everything was bright, and the halls were wide and open. They have a lot of useful artwork on the walls, in the hallways, and the larger areas. Their entrances were very impressive and they have a lovely fireplace too.
They're also willing to personalize a meal for you. If you don't want cheese or you don't want sauce on something, they offer many choices, as well as four entrees every day and they were all nice meals. They had a low-calorie meal for options and I've had some of those and they were very good.

I have lived at FVSH for over three years and been very satisfied with my choice. I came here because my husband was in the early stages of dementia, and we moved to a two bedroom independent living apartment which we both found to be very comfortable and roomy. The food was excellent and the activities abundant. After two years, it became necessary for him to move to a full care unit where I could easily see him every day, share meals with him and still live in our apartment. It was a good choice for both of us. He received excellent care, and I did not have to drive miles to visit him. After over a year, my husband died. I received support from the FV staff and chaplain's department as I went through all the decisions and emotions associated with such a devastating loss. I am now continuing here, supported by friends both new and old, as I go forward on my life's journey. Friendship Village has made these transitions possible in a seamless and caring manner.

Friendship Village Sunset Hills was very nice, very clean, and had a lot of sunlight. The person during the tour was very good, very nice, very personable, and answered all my questions. The apartments were very nice. I looked at a two-bedroom and a one-bedroom with a den. The dining area looked very well done, very nice, and very well kept. They had a pool, an arts and crafts room, and a theater.
