Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley was very nice, with very beautiful buildings, well-maintained, and nice amenities. They have nice staff. They're caring, and compassionate and wanted to understand the needs of my dad. However, their facilities were not as nice as the other place. They're not as updated.

The tour experience at Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley was very good and informative. The community was very nice. The staff was helpful and a very nice person. The rooms were nice. Everything was very pleasant. I had nothing to say bad about them. We observed people in different areas. We went to the gym and took a complete tour of everything. The dining area looked very nice, airy, wide-open, and inviting.

I toured the Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley yesterday. It was a very beautiful campus, with nice finishings. Some of the units had very small apartment-sized refrigerators and two-burner hot tops, and I didn't care for those units. They do have nicer units. I did very much like for my father to stay in independent living, but take ala carte services like laundry or meals. Their availability for those kinds of things was greater than the other place, and they're more reasonably priced. The woman I toured with was very nice, but not quite as knowledgeable, and I didn't feel like she offered as much information. The woman at the front desk was pretty curt and almost rude. I was pretty disappointed. They had a full range of services, a salon, a gift shop, and a gym. They had a lot of activities.

I was not overly impressed with Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley. They all look the same. It was three or four stories with windows on three sides. It was clean, but just not eye-popping like the other place. The person that showed me around was amenable. It just didn't grab my attention as the other place did. The tour person was extremely nice and answered questions and everything else. When we went down the halls, people were milling around and sitting on couches. They might have been doing a puzzle or playing some card game or something. There was one table with some people at it.
We saw a garden and an outdoor patio with tables and chairs. They had underground parking. I went to two units, and we talked about everything. We went back to the office and then we went through pricing and the different levels. There were five buildings there. I only went to one building for independent living. They had two assisted living buildings and the last one was more like a nursing facility where they have full care. It's one big campus. It felt more homey than institutional.

We looked at Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley. It was a very nice facility; it was our second choice. We liked the facility, the people, and the lady that we talked to was probably the best of any of them. She followed up, she was very attentive, she did a phenomenal job. The people that we met, they walked around and everybody knew everybody's name. You'd walk by and they'd say, "Hey, Helen, how are you doing? Hey, Bob." She knew everybody, all that staff members and all the individuals. Overall, it was a very nice facility. They were high on the list for overall amenities. The rooms were nice, the facilities were nice, they had salons, they had a tour bus that would take you different places. There's a lot of things going on with the people to be involved with all that kind of stuff. The only reason we didn't go with them was because it's about 30 minutes from our house, and it was just a little too far away. But if that was the only option we had, we would take it in a heartbeat. It's in a nice little neighborhood.

I visited Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley. It was very, very nice. The main difference was they did not have something available right now, for one thing. I think the price, if I calculate all the numbers, would have been very close to the same as the other one, although a little bit more expensive -- but not much. The staff were very nice. The lady who took us on a tour was exceptional, as far as marketing. The room that we were able to look at was only a one-bedroom because they did not have a two-bedroom open to view right now. The room was very nice; it is just not what I needed right now. The Seasons did have a stacked washer and dryer available in some rooms. The place was very nice, and I would say it was top rate, as far as I am concerned.

The main reason we didn't take Ecumen Seasons for my mother-in-law is because they didn’t have any one-bedrooms available. They only had a two-bedroom, and you have to be on their waiting list until a one-bedroom came up. It has everything included into the price, and it would have been the most convenient for us because we live in Apple Valley. They have a lot of activities at this location. It was the most expensive of the ones we looked at, and they had the most things available, but they had a lot of meals included also, which is something that we learned from the past would be wasted, and they didn't have any one-bedroom available. So that was also a reason to not go with them, because the smallest thing they had available immediately was a two-bedroom. They were very nice and thoroughly explained everything, so it was good. It was a nice place, not just the right one.
