I have visited Canterbury-on-the-Lake and it is a wonderful community. It is set on a beautiful piece of property with a lake and tons of wildlife. It is important to have a community that offers all levels of care as my loved one can move through each level of care if they ever needed. Canterbury has all levels of care at their community. During the time spent at Canterbury their staff was extremely friendly and seemed very happy to be there. They seem to have a large amount of activities for all interests. I believe exercise and happy hours are just a few of the activities that are on the schedule. Canterbury is a community that I would recommend experiencing and when needed would look to move my loved one there.

Canterbury on the Lake was run more business-like and not as welcoming. The facility seemed adequate, but not spectacular. The room was standard. The staff was very standard, but they were not very personable. I never saw the dining area or any activity. They could have better personnel.

We have many people from our church that were already in Canterbury on the Lake, so I'm familiar with the facility. The people were very friendly that we met in the halls, plus the people that were put on the tour and all around. It was a reasonably-priced one. The meal structure was good. The facilities were good. There's a view, and I was encouraged by that. I had a very favorable impression of Canterbury on the Lake. If things would change for me, this is probably the one that I would move into. I did look at the menu and the prices, and talked to them about that. It was a good situation. The meal costs were quite reasonable. They have a vehicle that will take them to places and trips.

I went to Canterbury on the Lake. It's beautiful, and the tour was very, very nice. I walked in and I thought I would see a lot of people because it was like 11 o'clock. But they don't really-- it seems like the residents eat in a cafe, which is in another area than the main one that I was walking through. I saw a menu for dinner, it looked like gourmet food. I don't know how it tasted, but it looks a little more outstanding than your regular senior citizen place. It looked very good. I wasn't there at the right time for dinner, but it was very nice, very extremely clean and the apartment itself was very, very nice. It was a little quiet, but on the first floor, they have a library there, and that's where I was interviewed by the one who is in charge. It was a nice library, a quiet place during the day, and it seemed like they played golf around there. They have different games that you can play outside. There are a lot of land surrounding it. So I would think in the future they'd probably build even more. There's areas to walk. I was ready to go back to my apartment, and I stopped a woman who was taking a walk. She said she and her husband had just moved in a couple of months ago, and she said It's wonderful. She loves it there. It's always good to ask someone who lives there. I knew it was nice there, you could tell. However, it's very far from family and friends and also far from the stores that I'm used to. It was just too far.

We got my mom moved into Canterbury on the Lake almost a week ago. The portion that she lives in is independent living. The move-in process went really well. She likes the place. The place was very accommodating for her with her situation of using the walker. They have a large bathroom and a nice large kitchen area, which is accessible for her to be able to go back and forth using her walker. Everything was move-in ready. The staff was very welcoming. The grounds are beautiful there. The residents are super nice. They're really sweet, and they gave out information to the residents that are currently there letting them know that she was a new move-in and they welcome her, so actually everybody knew who she was before even speaking to them, and they kind of already knew that was her that moved in. Their process was nice compared to a lot of the ones that I went and viewed. This one by far was the best. The size and the cost were good, and everything that came along with it none of the other communities had that.
They do yoga classes there, they have golf nights, they have movie nights, and they have bingo. They have a lot of different programs for the adults there like cards, and they go on trips. In terms of amenities, everything is included like gas, electricity, water, cable, Wi-Fi, and it comes with a 24-hour monitoring bracelet as well. They gave my mom $215 that's used from her rent that goes towards meals. They provide three meals a day, and the prices for them are very, very reasonable. If she doesn't want to cook in her full-size kitchen, she could order something or go down to have breakfast or lunch, or dinner. They have room service as well as an additional where if you didn't want to go down, they can bring your meals up to them. They have a nurse's station there and a doctor's office. They have a beauty salon. They have so much stuff there to offer. I didn't have a meal there, but my mom did have a meal there already. She had lunch on her second day there, and she said it was really good.

Canterbury on the Lake's price point is about 30 to 40 percent higher than the other two facilities I visited, but it's definitely a more quality built facility. There were more amenities and more activities for the residents to do. Their dining room was much bigger and offered a broader menu. The actual suite that they showed me was much better. They had a mini inside mall downstairs with shops, a boutique, and a fitness center.

I'm not a huge fan of Canterbury on the Lake. They had room air conditioners and only one elevator. They had warm hallways in the summer. It has not been remodeled recently.

We visited Canterbury on the Lake, and that was our second choice, but there was no room available. It's an excellent community. The staff member took us on a tour of the place, told us everything they have, and was very open, and very friendly.

Canterbury on the Lake was very close to where we were basically born and raised so my mom was very familiar with that location. It's just too big. If she lived there, she'd have to have an amigo because she uses a walker. She has knee and back problems. We found out there were people that work there that my brother knew, and she knew people that lived on our street. We thought my mom would want to be there because we were there for three hours, but when all was said and done, it was just too big. It was nice, but it just wasn't for her. They had all kinds of stuff going on. Across the board, that community was very nice. The staff was very nice and very knowledgeable, and there was a lot of information on the tour.

Canterbury had a graduated care program in a beautiful facility with lots of things to do. I looked at two rooms; one was a one-bedroom and a den, and the other one was a two-bedroom, which was very nice but expensive. They had a small chapel.

I did not like Canterbury on the Lake. It’s too formal for my parents. It’s not very relaxed looking, and they were the most expensive of all of them. There was a salon. They have a little café and a gift shop. I think they had a gym, too.

Canterbury on the Lake is wonderful. I have told my husband that I also want to be there when we need to go into one. The staff is really great and extraordinarily helpful. If you ever need any help, they are there within a minute. Mom's apartment is about 800 square feet, and somebody comes in every other week to clean. The trash disposal is right there. They have buses to take the residents to places, and they have a ton of activities. They have 2 different dining areas, a rehab area, and a doctor on-call. The service goes all the way from independent living to hospice. It's just a really great community. The food is really good, and they have monthly meetings to get the residents' inputs. They serve a balanced diet; low sodium is also available. There are 3 floors for independent area, 3 floors for rehab, and 3 floors for assisted living. They don't have a memory care area; it would be great if they could add that.

Canterbury on the Lake was clean, fresh, uplifting, and felt like a beautiful hotel. The staff was helpful, and there were activities. I saw the library, which had nice chairs and interesting pictures on the walls.
