My sister moved into Anthology of Novi, probably in November, and she's very, very happy there. She's making friends and their meals are very fabulous. They're very good, and they get enough of it. Someone comes in and cleans her room and she has a lovely two-bedroom place with high ceilings. I think the place is brand new, I even went there for an open house. The price would have been $2500 more for my husband to be there than where he is now. I was kind of looking for a place that he and I could move in together so I could be with him and in Anthology, it would be like $10000 for both of us so it was too high and we couldn't afford it. The halls are long there. She is in their independent living but she has the beginnings of Alzheimer's so she has some cognitive impairment now and wanted to move into a place while she's aware of it. She knows that she has a memory issue so she will move eventually to memory care. They had a band, which was wonderful. This was before Christmas, they had them there, they were in tuxedos, and it was lovely. When I was there another time visiting her, they had put a saxophone player or an accordion player or something like that. I don't know about the other activities because she said she forgets to go to them so she doesn't always go but she's met some of the other residents and played mahjong with them. She has gotten together with some small groups. Where she's at, her car is parked outside and she says she wished there was a carport or a garage for it. Her apartment is absolutely lovely. It has high ceilings, a good-sized bedroom, and a nice and good-sized walk-in closet. You can walk outside and it has a little patio area with enough room for 2 chairs. There's a good-sized bathroom that has a lot of shelves. She has another full-sized bathroom with shelves in it, a stacked washer and dryer, and a little closet. There's not much more room there. The second bedroom has a closet that's not a walk-in closet, but she uses that as a computer room and a little sitting area. In the living room area, she has a sofa, and one of those lounge chairs. It doesn't have too much room for a table but she has a bar countertop and a bar area for sitting and eating meals. She does not have a table in there. If you had one, you could put a table in, but it would be small.

My sister likes the Anthology of Novi. It's a little more expensive, but it's very clean and the rooms were nice, had a lot of windows, a lot of light and high ceilings, and big. Everything looked very nice. The rooms had a small kitchen. They offer two meals a day. They have a little younger group of people. They're not very old people and my sister is not quite there yet. She wanted somewhere where there's a good mix of people. The place had more of an upscale look and the rooms had a nice view. They also had assisted living, but we wanted independent living. The staff was very nice, friendly and very knowledgeable. She had good customer service. They had different food choices, and they also had snacks and coffee they can get in between if they want to. They have a stove, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a washer-dryer in the unit.

Anthology of Novi is not perfect, but it's a very nice and new place that's the upper level. It's more expensive; that's something that would keep me away, and it did. On the other side, it's very nice and modern, and the apartments are very nice. It's kind of a busy area, but there's a little bit of wildlife refuge right next to it. And when we're leaving we saw deer and wild turkeys running around the property. It's right across from the Twelve Oaks Mall. Everything's ok with the staff, I didn't have any problem with who toured us or anything. The food was very good. They have amenities like the golf driving thing, and they have one of those games where you hit the golf ball to play and it tells you where your next shot is. They have a lounge area, a bar and they have a big dining room.

We did not like the Anthology of Novi because of the layout of the apartment, but the accommodations and stuff that they had there were nice. We didn't like the rooms because they were very small. The surroundings looked OK. There wasn't a lot to do outside, but they had a lot of amenities. They had a golf simulator room that they showed us and we're impressed with. They had a coffee bar, and the dining room setup looked nice, but they weren't really open when we were there. It's new and the location was easy access. It's right across the street from 12 Oaks Mall.
