We went to Sycamore Manor. We had hoped to get in to see them, and it was kind of the last minute. I was impressed by the friendliness. The atmosphere was nice. I thought the apartments were very nice. Some of them had a balcony. They only had a couple of openings, and my mother wanted a balcony. It was less expensive. They didn't have as many bells and whistles. They had activities, but not anything like the other facility. It wasn't as big of a facility.
The dining area was also very nice. There was an area where you could even go out on the patio to eat. They did not have as many selections, but they had a daily menu, and I think you could get a couple of other things. It's a smaller facility, so they were serving fewer people, and I think that made a difference. During the tour, they were playing bingo out on the terrace, and that's all that we saw at the time. We just kind of popped in, and they were nice about taking care of the tour on an unannounced level. I called ahead. As we were leaving the bank, I called and asked, 'Could you squeeze us in?' And they did. They were very accommodating.

Sycamore Manor was very nice. The tour guide did a good job. He was also the chef evidently. They had a number of people come up to him and tell him how good the food was that day. The place was very nice. The apartments were very nice, too. They have a beauty shop and a movie theater. However, the apartments that they offered for Mother were upstairs which was not a good fit for us. Even though there's an elevator, my mother is blind, so that's not a good thing.

I looked at Sycamore Manor. It was very well-run. The lady who interviewed me was very nice. It was a clean place. The apartments were big. They had storage, and a patio. They looked nice, but were too expensive. They did have activities for the seniors. They had free everything. They would take you to beauty shop, and to doctor’s appointments without charging you. There was a lot included, but that would not do for me.

Management is a joke, they do not care about residents at all just $ and census. Understaffed and mgmt doesn't care. Very budget conscious even if it means jeopardizing residents. Very cold, no one speaks or agnonologes presence.

There were parks and small shopping centers nearby Sycamore Manor. Activities were very nice. What we liked about it was the layout of the rooms. They were large and spacious. They also had several of the two-bedroom units for spouses or caregivers.

I toured Sycamore Manor. I live really close to it. I went for lunch; the food was excellent. The chicken salad was really good. The staff was very nice, very accommodating, very knowledgeable and caring. They have an activity director. They shared a couple of games that they recently played with the residents.
They showed me the 2-bedroom that I was interested in. It was very nice and private the way they were set up. They had a common area in the middle, and a bedroom is on either side so they could be away from everyone if they wanted to. I think it’s managed well. It was clean, and it had a nice atmosphere.

Sycamore Manor was a nice facility. The people were thoughtful and I was even invited to an open house. The cleanliness of the place stood out to me. They had limited activities compared to the ones I saw in Arizona.

It's overall pretty nice. The rooms are a little small, but the common areas are always nice and clean. Walking down the hallways to their room, it seems like they could use a little bit better building maintainence-- crumbling plaster and so on. The residents are always cheerful, though. The building is very secure. In fact, I've gotten locked out a few times on occasion I was there to visit with my grandparents.

The grounds were very well-kept and pleasant; the buildings themselves, on the outsides and insides, are pretty nice. The apartments where the residents live, at least my grandmothers, weren't -large-, but they were decently spacious and the amenities were fairly new. The staff was hit or miss-- there was a nurse that was especially nice to me, but there were several other nurses I saw on staff that weren't doing their jobs, because they were too busy standing around chatting. Overall, my grandmother seemed decently happy with the place, and so I can't complain too much, but I think the employees need more discipline. It seems like a lot of nurses that work in retirement communities or nursing homes don't care about the residents at all, and it hurts the people under their care. The one very nice, attentive nurse, though, I won't be forgetting her; she came in and chatted with my grandmother and it seemed like they got along well, and my grandmother was telling me how nice that nurse was, so I was glad.

Sycamore Manor is a lovely residential assisted living facility. The staff is so warm and friendly. The atmosphere is bright and cheerful. They provide a number of social activities such as church service, fitness programs, dances, performances and other special events. They also allow dogs to live in the facility, which makes it feel even more like home. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for an assisted living community.
