I live in the independent living at Peabody Retirement Community. I like it very much. The people I live with around are very nice. The community itself is very nice/well taken care of. I would like to find some other community that maybe doesn't cost quite as much, and is maybe closer to the rest of my family. Fort Wayne would be better.
I have a duplex. It's a two-bedroom with full kitchen. I would say it's about a thousand square feet, with a garage. The staff is very nice. I don't take advantage of the food very often because I have my own kitchen. Especially now with the pandemic, the independents don't mix in with the regular building. We don't go into the dining room anymore. The food is very good. I just don't take advantage of it very often.
It's a beautiful facility, it's full service, and a continuum location. In other words, I am independent out here, but they offer the full services if I need to go inside for assisted living or healthcare. It's all here. They have buses to take us to meals and takeout food shops. They have a bingo or artwork, all kinds of things going on during the normal week, but of course, not now.
