I took a tour through Altenheim Senior Living and they showed me one apartment that was offered as independent living because that's what I was looking for, but it was within the assisted living facility. So, I was not interested in that. The only option I was interested in was this specific 'garden home' that the staff member showed me, and it was perfect. They have fitness areas, a playroom, and all these beautiful landscapes outside. However, the air conditioning in the assisted living had been out for two days, which was not very encouraging to me, given the heat that we had on that weekend of my visit. If I needed assisted living, I probably would not have moved in or chosen that facility. When I asked the lady who took me around about it, she said, "Well, some of the equipment is old.", and I understand that, but I also think that the owners should have replaced this old equipment before it completely went out and then took days to fix it.

We went to Altenheim Senior Living and I thought it was a very nice place. We placed our name on the waiting list. It was affordable, it was clean, and the woman who showed us around was friendly and willing to answer all our questions. We actually knew someone who was there. They have group visits to places, they have a library, and I asked if I could start a group of women who did handicrafts. I said that we could meet once a week, they seemed very interested, and said that would be a good idea to get people out of their rooms and talking about what they can do. It's an older facility, but it's very well maintained.

My parents liked Altenheim Senior Living very much, but there wasn't a unit available. They had individual homes, and duplex brick homes which was what my parents liked. The place was very clean and very bright. They also offer everything that my parents could use. Michael was the one who took us around, and he was very patient and helpful. The grounds and the layout were beautiful. It was on 32 acres of land and they had nice, paved walking paths.

I would like to share our experience with Altenheim. My mother was admitted to their care under the St, Francis Hospice Care. The staff from the director were extremely cordial and showed true loving care for mom. Any questions I had were addressed immediately and all kept us informed for the care of mom. Unfortunately she pass August 24th and they gave us all the privacy we needed. If you or a family member need a caring facility, these people are the best in my eyes. Keep up the great work. I will be visiting them quite often even though mom has gone home to be with others.

We have a loved one in Assisted Living. The nursing staff rates high with us. They are caring and do what they can but are understaffed. Housekeeping is way understaffed. Rooms are not getting cleaned. Trash does not get emptied daily. Beds are not changed regularly. Stop in for lunch or dinner. Food is terrible and getting worse. The assisted part is missing. Short on aides. Carpets are not kept clean And swept. Residents in assisted living must be able to live as independent residents. Need memory care in the future? There is no memory care here. Think security is important? Check it out thoroughly. Don't bother trying to get answers from administration or Cardon. It seldom happens. Advice: look for a not-for-profit facility.

I have a big home at Altenheim as when I moved here my wife was with me but she passed away a couple of years ago. I have a 2-bedroom house. The place is very clean and I joined groups here.

Altenheim was where I had my rehab. That's probably one of the best places I've been to. They also have a separate section where you can either have assisted or independent living. Everything was spotless. The living environment was great. They have a section for picnics and a pond, which was so big that you can actually fish in it. They have benches and walkways all over the place. It was pretty easy to get around there. They have bingo in the afternoons. They have a snack bar for the residents and you can eat at three different spots. They have a dining room setting where you can get waited on and another area where you can wait on yourself. The staff was great and my rehab was good. They seemed to really care about their patients. Their rooms were great. From what I've seen they were like apartments where you have a double room there and you all have shower facilities. They also have laundry service available if you want. I just found everything great there.
