My mother has been at village Woods for more than 3 years. We have had experiences with other care facilities and none compare to Village Woods. The staff and residents are one big family. I recommend Village Woods to friends and family all the time!

For over 3 years, I have been a resident of Village Woods Retirement Facility, a home away from home, where …”everybody knows your name”, where delicious menus are designed by a professional Nutritionist (special diets on request), prepared by seasoned cooks, served by a trained wait-staff, in a spacious dining room, overlooking a golf course. I have been here going on four years and I love it. A friendly staff includes a Community Administrator, Community Coordinator, Healthcare Coordinator, Dining Room Director, Environmental Services Director, Laundry/Housekeeping Manager, Life Enrichment Director, Business Office Manager, Senior Fitness Director and a Campus Care Nursing Staff, all of who contribute to the health, welfare and comfort of each resident. I must add that during the entire COVID19 shut down, the staff did an outstanding, beyond the call of duty, job of keeping the residents safe from the virus, and, to this day, are being very protective and vigilant. Village Woods is set on a hill, in a beautiful, quiet, area, surrounded by forest preserves and a golf course, yet just minutes away from Crete and Beecher. Professionally landscaped and maintained, it has an outdoor pool, assigned parking for residents, a patio and Gazebo, giving residents a place to enjoy fresh air and the beauty of nature surrounding them. Inside one finds a friendly lobby and reception area; two large and two smaller meeting and activity rooms, dining room, kitchen, business office, puzzle room, library with digital enlargers for residents with seeing issues, game room, a fully equipped Fitness Center, ball room, beauty parlor, aviary, do it yourself laundry, maintenance office and shop, a drink station available 24/7 self serving juices, coffee/tea, hot/cold water and ice. All apartments, prior to moving in, are decorated to resident’s taste, and are equipped with smoke/fire alarms. All walls are fire-walls and fire rated. Each apartment comes with a storage unit in a locked storage room. Personally, I feel that Village Woods is a bargain. Before signing a contract, I visited several other facilities and found Village Woods more than competitive. After I moved in, I calculated the cost of owning a house (taxes, utilities, maintenance, snow removal, etc.) vs. renting here; it became apparent that it was a bargain, especially when I realized that all my meals were included. No more grocery shopping, cooking and washing dishes, plus, sheets, pillow cases, towels and facial tissues, TV, plus other cost savings, are included. I recommend you do the math. The Life Enrichment staff provides more activity than one can keep up with. The list is long; bingo, bunko, spelling bees, mind games, birthday and holiday parties, outings in the Village Woods bus, movies, crafts, WI-bowling and games, card games, nail polishing, decorating, issue a weekly newsletter and activity list, and more, all with a cheerful smile. Special note: During my working career (Facilities Engineer), I did a lot of ratings of personnel and facilities. I rarely rated anything as Excellent, because there is always room for improvement. This was especially true when inspecting a new facility. I invite you to join us. Three of my neighbors have and they are happy they did.

My Mom lived in a townhouse in the Fairways (part of the Providence complex at Village Woods) for many years, so moving over to Village Woods, 'the Big House' was a logical choice when she was no longer able to live alone. It is a clean facility, well kept up, and her apartment is very nice, though small. The caregivers seem very nice and helpful, and contact me whenever there is a question or issue that arises. She seems to enjoy the food. Covid restrictions have impacted her ability to socilaize, but on the positive side, I don't think anyone at Village Woods has tested positive, so the staff is to be commended for keeping this dreadful virus at bay. I am able to visit my Mom outside, which is fine now; hopefully other arrangements will be made whether the weather turns colder. Overall, I am pleased that she is in Village Woods, and would recommend this facility to those needing a safe, secure place for their loved one, where Spiritual care is a core aspect.
